Canot get my turbo to boost more than 30psi

Hey guys, I just did a new long block and everything is running fine as far as the motor goes. The problwm I am having is boost issues. I cannot get this thing to spool like it was before the rebuild. The Most I see roughly 35. The boost elbow is blocked off and I used to see 52 or so PSI. I have no leaks that I can see or hear.

The only difference is that I used the banks high ram kit.

Does anybody have any ideas.

I know I am fueling more than enough. RP is where it needs to be. I just don't get it!

Thanks for the help,

Jason

Did you use the o ring washers on the front bolts? It could be leaking there.

Sorry.....the front bolts on the Ram intake. Where are you reading boost from? Boost bolt or tapped intake?

What kind of electronics are you running? Are you running the stock turbo? The reason I ask is a 04.5+ has an electronicly controlled wastegate, so what elbow are you blocking off?

Even the stocker has a hose you can block off but it will overboost and the ECU will dump the wastegate just the same unless you have a boost fooler.

I would like to know where you are measuring boost at. You could move the hose, just for now, to the hot side of things and measure boost at the turbo. At least that would let you know if you had a leak on the cool side all the way into the intake manifold plane. Or, you could get some PVC fittings and a schrader valve and pressurize the whole system to check for leaks that way.

Right now I am running a PMT and a VA 3.1. I have an HTb2 turbo. I am measuring boost at the port on the High ram. That is the same port I was using before I put in the new engine.

I checked all my high pressure lines and cannot find a leak anywhere. What I have found is that I have an excessive exhaust leak at the joint on my ATS 2 piece manifold.

That seems like it would be the main cause. Has anyone else had this problem?

The loss of drive pressure would kill your boost for sure.

Sorry for sounding lost here, but Drive pressures meaning the pressure from the engine to the turbo?

I just talked with ATS and they said that most likely it was heat warped from my last motor and there is no way of sealing it again. They said they would give me a great deal on a new one though!

Gee what a deal. I would try the old one again first. Nothing to lose.

The old one leaks awefully bad. My engine compartment is covered in soot. Trying to figure out if I am just going to do a replacement manifold or go with a twin set-up that comes with a manifold!

When any part of a repair includes "twins" as the repair...

You have been bitten by the "I need more" bug...

I think twins will definately fix your boost problem.
