Can my tranny handle this much H.P.
Can my tranny handle this much H.P.
I'm wanting to upgrade to the scary larry/TST stack for drag racing ONLY,(no sled pulling) so would my tranny hold up on a boosted launch?
please let me know to help prevent a costly mistake
It includes: goerand bros t/c, v/b and billet input shaft

I would not recommend it. You could call Dave and find out for sure, but I think he'd tell you the same thing. Boosted launches with all those mods would probably take out an output shaft, or worse, an intermediate.

I see by your signature you have a billet input shaft. That is good, but IMO you need to install a billet output shaft too! I know because I broke three stock ones in my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve!
Mike Dolan (Mike D.) broke a BILLET output shaft in his 99' Dodge CTD 24 valve too along with another stock output. I know that because I towed him both times!
My advice to you would be to NOT GO OVER 10lbs of boost at the staging lanes if you are drag racing!
Believe me, going higher than 10lbs. of boost while drag racing is going to eventuallty break a stock output shaft.
Good luck.

It really sucks that you have spent all that much and you need more but i would get billet out put, intermidiate(because if that breaks your SOL) and flexplate, being in the middle of nowhere and walking isnt fun, i was their with my last vehicle.
yeah if your planning to drag race it all the time i would say intermidiate, and output shafts and doing boosted launches you need to go with a fly wheel as well. fly wheel going out can take out pretty much the entire front of the tranny.
its is not cheap to buy all the billet shafts but I figured why buy some of the good parts and break it later on. I didnt know what direction I wanted to with my truck so I got the billet intermediate, input and output. but I feel like now I can put whatever I want on it and it will hold for the most part. I cant see getting a built tranny without a good flexplate either. I talked to dave, dusty and some other tranny builders and they all told me the same thing. get an aftermarket flexplate

Do an intermediate too...when that one goes...all heck breaks loose.
I own the title for the most carnege to a tranny at ATS...caused by a shattered stock intermediate.
They were very nice to me (paid for 1/2 or more) and it still was a $2500 problem. Even destroyed the case!
