BullyDog Pup or Quad/Xzillaraider Which one
BullyDog Pup or Quad/Xzillaraider Which one
Im trying to decide between which module,I had the pup on my 04.5CTD. Now have the 05CTD 3500 Dually 4.10 auto that I use to tow my 13.500# camper on weekends...Have EGT,Boost gauges,BHAF.and other mods coming.Downloading the pup takes 10 minutes or more, so the Quad has its switch on fly.... that to me is a plus. Power level is about the same...Any input? Thanks
I think the pup makes some nice, cool temp. power. As far as max power goes i think there are "hotter" fuel boxes out there. As for the quad , i think it ups the rail pressure to much for me to feel comfortable. I would either look at the bddl or the edge juice with attitude. Good luck! Mark yiphowl@hotmail.com
The new Triple Dog Power Pup has On-The-Fly mode. You can leave the downloader plugged in and simply highlight a different program and press (Y). Switches on the fly. Of course leaving it plugged in is kind of in the way. You can plug it in while driving and change program with On-The-Fly and then unplug it. This seems to work ok. I have had the Quad Race box also. I don't really know which one of those I would chose for a single performance mod. They both have about the same power. The Quad may add more fuel pressure and a little higher EGTs, but not much. If I was going for the 100hp max range, I would go with the Edge Juice/Attitude. Just my .02.
I have seen some video where the power pup was just pouring out tons of black smoke right off idle. this is something I hate, on the other hand so other people love it. It made me not condier the pup to much though.
the race quad box is what I had decied on but then someone was telling me they like the hot juice much better so I am torn between those right now.

TheWolf I think what your asking is does it raise rail pressure. I heard somewhere on here that it does timming only in the tow setting, timming and duration in the performance setting, and timming, duration, and pressure in the extreme setting. Then if you upgrade to the Crazy Larry it's even more pressure.

Dr Performance Stage II box
Quad XZillaraider Race box
Edge Juice/Attitude standard box
Edge HOT Juice/Attitude
Edge EZ
Bully Dog Triple Dog with Crazy Larry
If you are not ready to upgrade tc/trans/clutch, LP and turbo the HOT Juice and Crazy Larry are kinda useless.
I can honestly say that the only box I had any issues with was the DR Performance Stage II, it was an early version for the 600 and part number has changed since.
I will say the the Quad XZillaraider, the standard Juice/Attitude or the Triple Dog without Crazy Larry all worked as documented with out any issues. Driving common sense can control any smoke problems for the most part.
I will be installing the new TST PowerMaxCR soon and will have opinions on it next. With my current experiences with the above I would have to recommend the Juice/Attitude for an otherwise stock setup. But the Quad and BDDL also worked ok for me. Just my .02.

I am mainly concered with power coming in sooner and no smoke. I would sacrifice 20hp up top to ahve the power come in 250-500rpms earlier if that makes sense.
I should probalby just buy both and keep the one I like the best.

I can get hardle any smoke outta my truck even on the crazy larry program. Also I don't think the BDDL has a boost fooling programed into it, cause all I can get is the stock 30 psi.

my buddy has the bddl on a powerstroke and it hardly smokes at all. It is more of a steady haze instead of thick black smoke. My edge when on level 4 will smoke pretty good. But i will probably go to the BDDL in the future.
Well without a long and drawn out essay on my experiences and comparisons I will add this. You can not compare the HOT Juice or Crazy Larry against the other boxes or downloader programs without the supporting mods.
The Juice/Attitude(20-100hp), the Quad XZillarader Race (60-100-130hp) and the Triple Dog standard programs(40-70-130 or so) were actually very similar in overall power comparisons. I dyno'd the Juice and Quad box and they dyno'd pretty much exactly what the power ratings showed. I did not dyno with the BDDL so I cant be positive about that. All of the above seem to be a little lacking in low end response in my opinion. That is why I stacked an EZ pressure box to help low end response.

Well I went for the Quad-Xzillaraider...Got it Fri 10/7 installed it on Sunday ..Not happy..there must be something wrong..Level 1 and 2 feel the same about 30hp and on level 3 its just not there...feels like about 50hp...When I had the BullyDog Pup all I needed was the Performance mode (90Hp) and that was on my 04.5 CTD w/3.73...I have 4.10's on my 05. so I felt the Quad would work well for me and pull real strong, but theres gotta be a program problem...Ive e-maied them about this and waiting for a responce back....Rich
