I have a 2006 Mega Cab 3500. I just bought a new BD Triple dog, I went to put it in the truck and it tells me there is a new TBS....something to do with white smoke and fuel econ? Bully Dog advises to get the flash update before downloading the software. Any thoughts? Do I need this new flash update or can I live with out it?

Mine says that everytime i update mine off the internet and i go ahead and download and never had any problems with nothing.

 

to ensure everything works to its fullest potential in your ECM, go get the flash. There was a technical write up about this a few days ago.

 

973604x4 is right. If you go through and download without getting the flash from the dealership, the triple dog will erase key cycles and fuel data. If you do get the flash it won't.

 

Yup mine says it too. i just run it. Like I need key cycles with what I have on my truck. Pay to play.

 

If you don't have the issues the TSB covers why get the flash? Mine didn't, so I didn't and it downloaded fine and runs great.

 

the issue has to do with what version is in your ECM. If it prompts you for a flash, get the flash so the Bullydog wont leave multiple traces of a programmer.

Well, according to that thread as long as the Triple Dog has the latest software you're good, so just be sure to update the Triple Dog before downloading.

Well I decided to not get the flash, and I downloaded Bully Dog this AM, it went smoothly so I guess we will see what happens.

I fully recommend getting that flash. Like bud said, if you dont you will rewrite the keycycles etc. If and when those get rewrote, you will void your warranty, as this is how DC figures out if there has been a programmer on there
