I have a 03 dodge 3500 and I want to put a programmer on it.I was looking at the bully dog and the smarty just wondering which one is best

I have the same truck as your. Just took the bully dog off, it was the PMT. It gave me 2mpg better with my 10,000Lb trailer behind than stock, power was good and gauges built in were nice. I just put a smarty jr. on 3 days ago, and I like the tuning options on it. It seems to have a lot better mid range power and be a little more responsive. I haven't relly had time to test milleage wise, but so far I am a smarty believer. And, I figure having to get a gauge to show tranny temp since the pmt doesn't have that feature, I might as well get the 3 mechanical gauges anyway.

Only been DTR member for a short while and I did notice there are not alot of Bully Dogs in the sigs. I have the GT on mine and haven't tried the others. Why does everyone prefer Egde and Smarty? Am I missing out on something? I love the gauges the GT has built in.

No one who has tried a smarty will prefer an Edge. Edge is much hotter and less power.

For the OP, on your 03, the Smarty has a clear advantage. If you had an 05, the two were pretty close at one time a few years ago. Since then smarty has refined the tunes and BD hasn't really kept up. It didn't help when their chief programmer was jailed awhile back. In short, for your 03, the Smarty is a much better choice performance wise.
