Just wondering if anyone was running the bully dog pmt and how they liked i have found a good deal on one but dont know if its the programmer for me thanks for any comments or help.

if it's used you really have to be careful it isnt VIN locked...many people have been burnt by that...

this is the truth. I see countless people burned by this. get proof that the thing is not vin locked. get a picture of the show settings screen before you buy it.


The big question is what are you expecting to get out of a tuner? are you looking for some extra tow power and mpg, or are you looking to go fast? Either way i feel our Dodge tuning is some of the strongest we have. there is alot of guys stacking the PMT loaded wtih crazy larry with a MP8 and getting very good performance out of it.

how much is the PMT your looking at?

I run one as well as a few other guys on here, and had I known about this forum before beginning to mod my truck, I can't say whether or not I would have went a different route. There is obviously the Smarty which is arguably the best tuner for our trucks, but with the PMT you get the gauges, adjustable on the fly, defuel parameters, as well as some other goodies. There is also the debate over whether Bully Dog's "larry" tunes are the strongest on the market, but the problem is, nothing above Crazy Larry was ever written for the PMT, and to get Crazy Larry, you have to get it from someone who had it back in the day before they took it off the market. I have ridden in a Smarty Jr. truck with similar mods to my own, but that is not comparing apples to apples, so I won't comment on that. Have never ridden in a Smarty/PODS truck, but have ridden in an Edge, Superchips, BANKS, and a few others. The PMT out shines them all IMO. If you can get a good price on the PMT I would recommend it, I paid right at 1K for mine, 4 years ago. Definately have debated that decision many times.

I run the Bully Dog PMT it is very nice has all the built in gauges ,defuels when egt and trans gets too high , can set fogs and high beams on . tells you trouble codes and the performance is incredible i love it I put the crazy larry on mine and it would roost the tires if stomped on but since i have a stock tranny and turbo did not want to push it as my turbo now barks when pushed . SO i went back to stock tunes still a hell of alot of power . i will post a pick soon if anyone wants one.

plug it in via usb. from the main menu scroll down to show settings.. at the bottom of this screen it will say installed or not installed. you want it to say not installed.

So what im looking for is making sure his stock settings for his ford are not stored in programmer? Thanks
