Boost psi?

Im just curious what my boost gauge should be reading. It reads 19psi maxed, just seems a little low to me. 2005 2500 smarty so6 pod stock turbo and injectors upgraded trans on 35in toyo mts

I got 42 psi out of my stock turbo with smarty. Make a lot of smoke? Might have a leak.

It only smokes when I lug it or lay into it. Wouldn't you notice a power loss if there was a leak? Also I think the waste gate might be going cause once in a blue moon it throws an underboost code but as soon as you clear it there's no problems.

should be getting closer to 30 wide open throttle.....won't stay there though as you accelerate.

without the smarty you should see 23-25 psi max.

Okay so there's obviously a problem. I run the smarty pod so6 on level 7 cause I like the power and throttle response. About once a month I'll get a P0299 underboost code and loose all power but as soon as you clear it there's no problems. Should I just bite the bullet and upgrade the turbo?

Check for boost leaks and see if your wastegate is sticking open.

What's the best way to check for leaks and to see if the waste gate is sticking open? Old soapy water trick?

first you can visually look for any loose, cracked or broken parts. if you can rig up a way to blow air into from an air compressor, then blow like 40psi from a compressor in there. then listen for any leaks.
