Blown Injection Pump, Need Info..

What causes the freeze plug on the injection pump to blow??

I had my local Dodge Dealership tech, he's the top diesel tech around her..

He installed the Arson II kit, new injector tubes, moddes fuel rail and the MP8 on the truck, we took it out for a stroll.. We only got to the end of the block and we blew the plug outta the injection pump, he never got on it hard, just blipped the throttle twice and it blew..

The AD150 and Smarty are still not installed, i'm still running on the flashpaq at the moment..

What could of cause it??

I know i need a new injection pump, so i might as well buy the stage 3 from Wicked diesel..

Thanks guys
Cody

from what I have been told there is a relief valve in that pump that sometime sticks and the added pressure has to go some where and pop out comes the soft plug

So probably just the fact that it has 100,000 miles on the pump and it hasnt been staryed up in about a month could of caused it to stick??

Putting the Arson II or the rail or the tubes had nothing to do with the blowing..

I dont believe. I had to replace a pump on a dual pump setup that did the same thing and that pump had been on for over a year with noone messing with it

it's possible that the little steel ball in the high pressure fitting fell out during the install of the arson kit.

Sorry for your trouble guys. That little ball does a very important job!

Without the ball, the plunger breaks, it essentially tries to compress, instead of pressurize. As we know you can't compress solid fuel.
