Big Single or Twins

I cant decide between a big Silver Bullet or Twins. If I go twins who's should they be? and why?

This is what the truck will have....

Aem Brute Force Intake
6" Stacks..no cat...straight pipe
Smarty Downloader
Ts Ramifier
Tst Powermax
120 Sticks
Walbro Pump
HTS Transmission
Mod CP3

Any suggestions for that package.....

Well I have an 03 and it will probably be a totally different story on your 05.

I have
03 CTD 6 speed
Silverbullet
Smarty
AEM
Straight pipe
4.5" Lift and 35's at 3500feet elevation

I was stock until I got my Smarty 2 months ago and liked it alot. I was browsing the classifides and found a next to new Silverbullet for $750 off retail new so I got it. I was expecting my truck to be a "lag monster" because my friend had a not so good experience with his sps66. The total opposite happened. It spools later but almost as fast a my stocker. Keeping my Smarty set a 9 sure helps with the spool. I was expecting a bigger increase in HP especially in the top end but didnt get it with the swap.

I know its because I only have a Smarty but my clutch wont hold much more. My buddy told me that I need more fuel and that he would let me borrow his EZ pressure box and that should cure the problem. Well I just came back from a dyno day and dynoed it with and without the pressure box. It was a Superflow dyno and some people were seeing lower then usual numbers. Anyways w/o EZ my best was 373hp and 740tq and once I put the EZ on it went up to 418hp and 820tq and it had a ton more power on the street. Once I get a better clutch and glacier kit I will be getting a mp8 and a tst and will hopefully see 550+hp

On my 99CTD I had bought a B1/B2 twins but never got around to installing them because I needed to spend another $1,500 on head work. I didnt want to do the same with this truck. These 3rd gens are great that spool is much better when compared to the 2nd gens and its possable to make 650hp on a single and still be a daily driver.

Now days and especially with the 04.5+ I think you would be happy with a single. Heck how much HP do you want. I see a few 04.5+ with 600+ on a single. II says the silverbullet will flow up to 800hp. Yeah in a perfect world where everything is free yeah go with a set of twins. I still to this day havent seen a set of twins for 3rd gen that "Knock my socks off" yet. If you do decide on twins make sure and get a big set to off set the difference in the Silverbullet.

Just my my readings here it seems most twins owners encounter issues be it spooling, boost, or poor performance. I know there are some happy owners out ther and maybe they can tell you different.

If I were you and had a 05 like you and had the posssability of making 600hp easy on a Silverbullet I would do it.

Keep it simple

I say twins, because it will be alot more driveable. Buy a complete set, rather than building them yourself. That way, they are engineered to work together from the box, and will need little to no tweeking.
I am partial to BD twins.

I'm gonna go big single over twins. A single is very simple, cheaper, and easier to get dialed in. Plus with twins they generally run at a lot higher boost which seems like it would be alot harder on all your parts..If I was made of money and time was no object I would have twins tho

The BD towing twins are setup not to exceed 45 psi, so you do not need to worry about excess pressures.

I voted Big Single, but if you have the money to go twins then I would probably go that route.

I went big single, II SPS66, at least it was big at the time. I am not unhappy with that decision. Works ok for me. But it was mainly $$$ that made my decision. If I had the money now I think I would go with twins, and see what actually changes. My setup is not real laggy for daily driving, but I suspect it would be if towing anything of consequence.

If cost is not an issue.....I have always been a believer in twins. I tow some heavy loads thru the mountains and have never had an issue with EGT's with my twins. 75 mph hill climb with another 3/4 ton cummins in tow was around 1000 degrees.

Silver bullet here, (look in my sig)
I researched this for a long time before i purchased. My truck spools great and will only get better as i do fuel improvements. It is a lil pricey for single but i am very happy with it. I would recomend it anyday. The twins seem to take some time to tune and get a good mixture of parts. the single is simple. You cant fault the attraction of simplicity. Apposed to the attraction of bragging rights about haveing compound turbo's

Ill probably be going with a sp62 later on...

Ive always liked singles, and the hit when it comes on....
If you dont do much towing, big single.
If you tow more often, maybe think about the twins for lower EGTs and easier going up grades....

I am running a smaller single, and to be honest I am very happy with it, if I was going to go bigger I would definately go twins,, and may still yet. I can get 55 psi out of my 6280, nice low egts, very fast.
