Best way to polish Diamond plate steps???

Hey Fella's, and Gals , I have the Mopar Diamond plate steps on my rig, and they are only like 4 months old, and already starting to dull. Does anybody have any hints on how to polish them up the easiest way?? I just had my truck washed, and no matter how much you go over them with a clean towel or rag, they still look dull. It seems if I had to go over them with a polish and a towel, or rag or something, the diamond plate pattern is gonna rip up anything you use. I was thinking of getting the Mothers powerball, and sticking that in a drill, but at like $25 a pop, dont know if its gonna get chewed up from the pattern, and I'll have to 86 it when everything is done. (thats if it even lasts my whole truck, I have the steps, bed extensions, and flaps) Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

I have done quite a bit of polishing on my aluminum boat. Nuvite is a great polish for aluminum. The "S" grade should be good for your task.

I used some nuvite and a slow buffer on my swimplatform on the boat. I have a 1000-3000 rpm porter cable buffer. It works well for this application.

Many people have noted the power ball worked good for them. It may be all you need for your task. It is cheaper than the route I went. I had a lot of aluminum to do.

A piece of old carpet and some good polish works on diamond plate. The easiest way to polish alum. is to "Burn" it white with acid (aluminum brightner) to remove all the corrosion and then polish. Just make sure it's not clear coated.

i just used the mothers power ball and some mothers mag polish to do my diamond plate and man that works great. a little bit of cost up front but that is the way to go. I spread the paste on pretty thick on the diamond plate then ran the power ball over it several times in different directions then used a clean cloth RIGHT after that and man did it even shine. This will be the method I use from now on.

Mopar must not spray clear on their tread plate like some of the others do if its tarnishing already. On bare aluminum I have used the carpet and ruge (spelling?) trick.
