Best ever... 21.4 MPG!!!!!
I reciently went to Missouri from Indiana and I have always checked my mileage, every tank, every time hand calc. I usually get around 16 or 17 just driving around town and maybe 18.5 to 19.5 highway. But I changed all filters and oil before this trip and I got 734 miles to my last tank of fuel, that calculated out to 21.4 MPG doing around 69-72 mph. My old 95 2wd got 24 highway usually but this 4x4 has never came close. My Edge Juice is set on level 2 and my EZ is on level 1. And my truck just flipped 90k on that trip. Just thought I'd share my news. And the O/H said I got 25.7 so it is off a few MPG just like everyone else's.

riding on a trailer part way ?[coffee]

Not too bad... I just got 18.9 in mine, from SC to FL, and I'm happy about that. Must be nice!

'Tis a beautiful thing aint' it!!????? The best I've gotten is 21.2mpg with my 04.5 running at a steady 65mph!!!

Hand calculated or by overhead? Last week I drove 500 round trip and my overhead said 19.6 and I hand figured and got 17.9. My overhead is consistently off by 1.2 - 1.5 . That is the best I've got. That was with my BDTD on tow/economy and I drove 68 mph (cruise set) the whole way. I have 9800 miles on my truck. I know that mods for example my grille guard and the metal slide in bed I have in the back of my truck will affect my MPG . Anything you add to the truck will do that.

duddin, did you even read the post?

Once is great do it for 2 or three tanks from full to empty and then it's believable. I got over 22 pull in trailer once.

i consistently get 16mpg city and 20mpg hwy.....sometimes better if flat terrain with no wind and after i do complete lube and filter change. 17,000 miles on truck and expect it to get a bit better around 20k if it holds true to my buddies 2004 model that took a jump after 20-25K miles...
my overhead is only off by 1.8mpg so far.....been pretty consistent from the beginning actually. |
only 900 miles on new truck- already getting 18 ave hand calculated- congrats on the great mpg
|
That is impressive, especially with bigger tires
With my truck i can get 19.3ish going 76 mph and 21.5 at 65 if i drive it really really easy. |
I don't see why these trucks can't get better MPG.

wowwww...my mileage is nothing near what I'm hearing hear. I dont' get it.

^^^^^^^^^^^ lift effects aero dynamics- therefore effecting drag/ wind resistance- along w/ larger tires and wheels and maybe a heavy-foot can effect your mileage along w/ many other things not mentioned |
What rear end gears are in your trucks?
I've been wondering if having a taller OD would help mileage on the fwy when running 75-80... Get the rpms down around 1500 or so. Yeah it would be pretty useless when towing but for unloaded highway cruising it would be sweet, I think. Something like a Viper T56 with the .50 OD would make for a killer highway gear. Makes me wonder how much mileage could be gained with a super tall OD. I know tall tires kill mph, but most of that has to be due to weight and friction etc. |
