Best 5" turbo back straight pipe

Hi guys, I just purchased a 2006 2500 Quad Cab and it has a cat back system of some sort. I want to throw a 5" turbo back straight pipe on it. Any suggestions?

the only differences is what kinda metal the pipe is made out of.

You're not going to enjoy the loud drone either.

Also, for power levels below 700hp, 4" will be more efficient. Where you are at, going 5" will lose you a little low end torque and a smidgen of fuel mileage.

That said, I have a MBRP 5" (with muffler) that I have been happy with for some years now.

Thank you. I'm going more for sound and in the future I may build it up. It's bone stock right now and is my daily driver. In 6 months it will become a toy and I'll have my daily driver back. So I'll more than likely turn it into a money pit hahahaha. That being said, if I'm looking to swap exhaust would there be any issue other than low performance?

As long as that is a toy, and an off road one at that, then no issue other than it is a federal offense to remove the cat. (emission device)

I have a Diamond Eye 5" with muffler (wife didn't want it as loud as my 1st gens) and the sound is actually pretty nice. I only use my 05 to tow our camper so I keep it really nice and clean. It has a Banks High Ram and a Bills Custom 5" intake. Other than that no bolt on goodies. I do have a programmer as well. I don't recall what brand as I keep it underneath the rear seat. I know when I bought it that it had 3 settings. I keep it on the 2nd setting. I mainly bought it to change the tire size as I have 22.5" Alcoa's on it.

I'd go with a 4" straight pipe instead. It fits better and will perform better.

Sam I have read several post and reports of experts talking about the advantages and disadvantages of muffler/no muffler. From how long the turbo shaft will spin without being oiled to losing 3hp due to not having back pressure. I can tell you that every diesel my family has ever owned we straight piped. I only work my 92 and noticed a slightly lower egt towing with a gross weight close to 30k pounds. I love the turbo whistle that a straight pipe gives a H1C. If I lose 3hp but lower the egt I will take it. To each their own. I will admit that the 5" in my 05 has a bit more drone compared to both of my 1st gens which I tried to control by going with a muffler. They are 4" instead of 5". According to DE their muffler is a glorified straight pipe. Does very little for back pressure but helps with drone
