Aurora 2000 quickest?

Anyone know what the quickest spooling turbo for our trucks is? I'm not looking to run more boost, I just want immediate spoolup. I've been looking for a VGT, but haven't seen any. Any info is apreciated.

ATS advertises that the 2000 spools up quicker than stock. Is this BS?

The 2000 might spool quicker than stock but that's not what really counts. Basically what really count's is how quick it spools to a different level. For example, turbo A starts spooling at 1200 rpm and turbo B starts at 1600 rpm. Now that's all well and good, BUT... Turbo A takes 10 seconds to spool to 30 psi and turbo B takes 5 seconds to spool to 30 psi. Which would you choose? The real performance turbo is turbo B. That's the true potential of any turbo.

I love mine! It was a nice improvement even with stock fuel - it really woke up the top end. My stock turbo was a bigger problem than the stock muffler. The muffler change was good but the turbo change was really good! The two changes dropped egt about 150* and it's perfect with my Predator. I still only hit 1200 with the 100 hp program. Your turbo is a little bigger than my stock 305 but I think it's still a 9 sq. cm. - I don't remember anyone saying different. ATS won't say what sq. cm. the 2000 is but I compared it to a Holset 14 and it has much more open area. You can't go wrong with it for street/towing and superior response! Craig

Thanks Tboe. Good point.

C Schomer,
Does your turbo spool faster, or come on earlier?

I'm looking for a turbo that can spool up sooner (like 1500 rpm).

Aurora 2k

I run it on my twins. Last Sept they upgraded mine. This NEW Aurora 2k has a totally different exh side/compressor side and the pitch & rake angles of the turbine wheel was also changed. The result was a much better spooling turbo than the original Aurora 2k. I haven't run it by itself as you are asking input but I'd have to bet it spools yesterday.

At what RPMs do they start to really spool up?

Aurora 2k

I can't respond to the Aurora 2k by itself as I don't run it that way. In the twins setup it's about 1500rpm.

Mine is about 1 1/2 yrs old - I bought it used. I didn't know about an upgrade. Mine has better bottom end than the stock turbo. It's not just a matter of boost - it's also less drive pressure. There is less boost cruising but it responds quicker and stronger at all rpm. If you give it the fuel, it will spool! This turbo with the Pred Extreme is awesome. It's like, what lag! Craig

I've also been contemplating a Twins setup. My main objective is to eliminate turbo lag. I drove a Dmax before I bought my latest cummins, and I was really impressed with throttle response. A VGT is probably what I'm looking for, but it doesnt seem like anyone is making a kit..

The A2K/A5K twins is a nice setup, what do you use your truck for?
