Anyone install a PAC brake?

Just trying to get any tips on installation. Going to do mine this weekend and I'm not quite sure what to expect, never done one before. It looks like the compressor will be the most time consuming.

The compressor was the easiest part. RE/RE the elbow is a 2.5 person job for me anyway. Finding the wiring was hard because the directions split at 2003.5.....half the install was one way the other half the opposite. It's not a bad install though and you'll love it. I have an auto and with a 6 speed it is twice as effective as you can keep the revs at the peak easier for maximum braking. You just have to be careful about going too low of gear as you will flat spot the tires it brakes so hard. I dropped into 2nd at 35mph in an emergency stop and the tires vibrated for about 15k. Without the brake I'd of been on the news in rush hour traffic in Montreal. It makes towing in traffic so much easier as when you let of the pedal it retards your speed just enough to not have to ride the brakes. You should almost wire a third brake light into the center of the trailer just to indicate when the ebrake is on so that you don't get a 4 wheel bumper in the butt. ks

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to having it on there. The exhaust isn't too bad for me. I will remove the inner fender like I did when I installed my 5". The band clamps can be fun. I figure if it saves a few brakes on the truck then it will pay for itself over time. Plus it is cool.

I know this is way off topic but what do the exhaust brakes sound like? Big rig style but not as loud?

My cousin has one on his 04.5 with a 5" and his sounds like a big rig only a little quiter. It does have a lot of hiss and whoosh to it as well. It sounds pretty cool.

Thats what Im talking about, so these things are powered by an air compressor, if so can it also power an air horn?

I understand they can but you may need to upgrade the compressor to be a little more efficient.

I'm having a pac brake instaled next tuesday by Rip at source Automotive along with a metal tank intercooler. Can't wait. I had an exhaust brake on my 01 & really miss not having one. As far as sound they are just a hissing sound out the tail pipe, although they do sound almost like a big rig inside the cab. Nothing like the sound of my jacobs brake on my Tanker though.
