Talking Anyone have an opinion about Predator module?

I just bought an '06 2500 big horn, qc, 4x4, CTD auto with 4x4. I miss my '01 qc long bed 2500 4x4 6 speed already. This automatic thing sucks, but on to bigger and better things. I have been looking at modules and their ability to be undetectable to the PTM. Anyone have any opinions about the Predator by Dr. Performance. They are right down the road from me here in Texas and I am tempted to go with them or the quadzilla since both are here locally in Texas. I am totally confused on the new CTD CR engine. I knew my 2nd gen like the back of my hand with the VP44. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No help?

Man it seems like everytime I post something on here I get absolutely no replies. Is it because I'm new to this site? Readers of the thread don't like my questions what? I would have thought this site would be an open discussion of the dodge ram CTD truck. Anyone have an opinion?

Just be patient.

I dont know of many people on this site runnin the predator by Dr. performance. There are a few that run the predator by diablo but I dont know of anybody runnin the programmer you are talkin about. I am sure if some has one or has had one they will chime in.

tex boy it may be because they have no opinion. I feel at times maybe they dont know or never tryed one. But you are in luck I do know someone over at Dr P. Give them a call and ask for Billy Ford he can help you. Also there is a guy that work's at Quad. on here that goes by qzilla he stays on top of the board here and jumps in when people start things about pressure boxes thats not true sure he would be glad to help you also but your best bet is to give them a call. I run the TST with the Dr P. stack am happy with the out come. And I have run other stacks and boxes and Down loaders but I am not going to get into it on the web. If you P.M. me I would be glad to go over some of the boxes I have run and what the gains were and how they drive. All trucks are diffrent and respond diffrent. Hope this helps you out

My brother has the predator and I ran it on my truck for about 2 months. It has good throttle response and good low end power. It has okay top end power and okay fuel mileage. I own a Bully Dog Triple Dog and it gives better fuel mileage and much better top end, it's also upgradable with newer software and Crazy Larry. If there is a problem, it can be fixed online and it works with all the trucks. The predator is fun to drive, but I still like my BD better.

Thanks

My main concern is stealthness in application. I would like to be able to remove the box and not have it be known that the box was ever there. I realistically don't want to go much over 400 horse. I would like my tranny to last 50,000 miles if possible. So I like the idea of the predator box and being able to set it back to stock and then to tow for a little more power and performance for short bursts of speed to satisfy my inner go speed racer. My truck is brand new only 5,000 miles on it and I'd like to ride the warranty on the tranny until it runs out.

Smarty Fan

A D/C tech on this site has been unable to detect the Smarty after using it on his own vehicle and using D/C diagnostic equipment as of his last posting. Whether Cummins can remains a mystery.

The predator is a super aggressive pressure box. Something I would personally stay away from.

I had a DR Performance Stage II for about a week. That was long enough, it was very high pressure all the time, even at idle. Lots of other choices that I can recommend from experience. Quad XZillaraider and Juice/Attitude are two of the moderate performance boxes that worked very well for me and no issues with either.

From what I have read about Smarty it will be my pick.

Well, from what I have read about Smarty to be released soon for '06. I think I will be getting it. Stealth, mutlitple power levels. I still like the idea of just flipping a switch to change power levels instead of having to down load another power level. I would like to have something that doesn't go into the diagnostic port, but I guess that is to much to ask on the CR. I had an edge ez on the 2001 and loved it. Like I said I just want to make 400 horse and be able to take the module off / go back to stock and not have the dealer detect it. I have read that the predator doesn't go over limits of cp3.

That was the first box I bought. There was a distributer very close to me and I wanted to buy from a person, not from a web site. Did not have rail pressure guage, but the rattle at idle and the rough idle and running were worse than any over timing/pressure rattle I have had with BDTD CL, TST w/twins and EZ stacked. The box was an early version for the 04.5 600 engine. It was pressure only and had model # 2017. When I told them that it was making the truck run and sound like it did, and that I did not like it, I was given full refund without any questions or answers. That Stage II model number disappeared from the web site in about a month afterwards. I will admit that the box was rated at 85hp and it dyno'd about 100rwhp over stock. Definitely added power, but at what cost?

2021 is the one to have. On the smarty you want the trans to live 50K stock? you wont beable to stay away from the upper power levels. that is a box for the not so weak a hearted. if you can keep it off the upper power levels you are a better man then most of us

If you like the idea of bein able to flip a switch I would have to STRONGLY recomend quads race box, or the juice with attitude but there is quite a large price differance. You get guages and all with the juice but I liked the mechanical guages better so I got the quad at first.
