Anyone else drilled and tapped a manifold like this?

I went out today to drill and tap my manifold for an EGT probe and came across something I wasn't expecting. My manifold has a couple "ramps" right where the hole is normally drilled. I've looked at a bunch of pics of probe placement and never seen one installed in a manifold like mine.

Should I put the hole right in the center of the ramps? Another location?

No there is a divider in the middle. Here's a pict from Diesel Manor

I have the same manifold, either as pictured above or on top between cylinders 3 and 4

Tap it where it will monitor 5 and 6 since they run hotter.

Mines on top, just behind the split. I put it there because apparently 6 runs the hottest

Don't do it. There is a center flange divider between the two ports which is a solid piece of the manifold. A buddy of mine tried that, broke a drill bit and had to take the manifold off and take it to a machine shop. They had to remove the broken bit, dril and tap the hole and plug it with a threded plug, it was a real mess.

It all hapened on a saturday evening so he had to wait till monday to get it fixed, then two more days to get the manifold back and installed on the truck.

That's why you drill it off-center, pointing into the rear passageway.
