Anybody Have a FOLD A COVER, bed cover?
Hello everybody. I was wondering if any of you's have the FOLD A COVER on your trucks?? All my other trucks had caps on them, and I personally like how the Ram's look as a pick-up, with no cap, but I need some type of cover. I dont like soft covers, or the one peice hard covers that hinge near the cab. I have been looking into the Fold A Cover because its a hard cover, but opens, and hinges in a few sections. It will still give me the pick-up look, but still have the security of a hard cover. If anyone has one, or knows of somebody with one, please let me know any comments as far as durability, and satisfaction with the product. Thanks
I have one. I have a friend who has one that I looked at before I purchased mine. I'm with you, I want my truck to "look like a pick-up" but need the security of a cover. It is very low profile so most people don't notice it unless they are close to the bed of the truck. It is very light weight (I easily put it on by myself) and durable. The best part is that it takes about five seconds to fold the cover out of the way so that you can use the bed of the truck for hauling large items or towing a fifth wheel. If you need to remove it completely you can loosen four screws and you can take the cover off (by yourself). The fit of the cover is matched perfectly to our Ram beds (not a generic cover). The front panel on the cover is curved to match the front of the bed and all of the panels taper from the front to the back. I didn't realize that our beds are wider at the front than the back until I got this cover. I used the tailgate lock that came with the cover for a couple of months. It works fine but since I have to access the bed quite often I got tired of having to use a key to lift the back panel to release the tailgate. I purchased an automatic tailgate lock that is wired into my door locks. That thing is slick! It makes access so much easier. The fold-a-cover is perfect for my needs. I highly recommend it.
Ordered mine when I bought my truck and had the dealer install it along with a couple other things. We have the soft covers on our trucks at work and I think the hard folding cover is the only way to go. I don't think you will regret getting this.

We have them here at work. I like them alot. I would have gotten one for mine, but the cap is a write-off on a business truck so I bought the Leer tall boy with the bells and whistles (sliders, tinted, 3rd brake light, switched light inside, etc).
I do like the looks without it better though.
However, my snowmobile fits under the cap, so it is pretty functional (no salt from MI roads on my Firecat). The wife and I even use is as our tent in the summer months.

I am interested in the Fold-a-Cover tonneau cover too, but have a few questions before I buy it sight unseen. Maybe chief3510 will give us his impressions once he gets his installed.
- How watertight is it? Assuming the tailgate is sealed, can I expect the bed to remain dry after a heavy downpour or going through a car wash?
- Do the panels rattle or bounce around when closed while driving? When stacked behind the cab?
- Can the stack of four panels be removed quickly and easily to fully expose the bed without removing the mounting rails in the process? Can it be reattached just as quickly and easily without having to "refit" anything?
- Does it come with the tailgate rail cover shown on their website (www.fold-a-cover.com)?
- I recall reading somewhere that our application requires some drilling. Does anyone know more about this: quantity, size, location, purpose?
- Mopar has something very similar. Is Fold-a-Cover the supplier?

I called Fold A Cover today and asked some questions. I asked if its a water tight instalation. They said not completely. Told me about a 96% seal. Said that there is a chance that stuff could get wet if you keep it in the bed. They also said that the cover will lock the tailgate in place, so you have to open the first section in order to open the tailgate.
To the people that have posted here that have this cover, what are your experiances as far as water getting in?? My worry is, say I go camping, or shopping etc.. And its raining. Do I have to worry about my gear of bags getting wet?? I dont want to leave blankets or sometimes I have construction material in there, and it will stay in for days. I dont want to come out to a truck with soak and wet sheetrock!!
Please chime in, because by the company telling me stuff can get wet, it really made me think twice now on getting the fold a cover.

i have had a Fold a Cover on my CTD for about a year now and i love it. I feel much safer leaving a few tools in it and it is pretty water tight. i go to the carwash once a week and i have never noticed water inside the bed.
