Any negative results from fuel additives?
I've seen lots of posts of good or indifferent results from using additives. Many seem to get more mileage with a PowerService/MarvelMysteryOil mix. I'm thinking about starting to do this but just wondered if there have been any problems directly related to using a mix like this...
I have used Standyne since day one on my truck. I got 25K on her now and all seems fine. I searched and read all sorts of stuff and from what I gathered it is suppose to help on the parts that we can't see inside. Don't jinx me, but I have not had one iato of a problem. I can't tell you about before and after milage, but I get 14 - 15 in the red light districts and 17 - 19 (70 and under, really good @65mph, as I can get 0ver 19 @ that setting) when on the open road. On ocassion, I'll use the Lucas additive, just to compare the two, same results.
After 180K miles I can tell you there is a benifit to using fuel additives and no real down side. I would just stick to using 1 fuel additive though. What you are after is adding lubricity to your fuel for improved pump wear.

I have netted a mileage increase that ranges from .8 to 1.8 mpg.
I see the best gain from it while towing. I ran straight diesel to Denver and used the Milligan additive on the way back. This is where I netted the 1.8 MPG calculated. I cruised at 110-120 KMH with the same weight.
I was at a total weight of 22,800 pounds.
I also noticed that the fumes are not nearly as harsh from the exhaust and the engine is quieter. I have been testing and evaluating this product all summer and will test for winter driving too.
Speaking of winter...its getting cold here...wait to start light is on a lot longer now.

I run the diesel kleen in the summer, and the diesel fuel supplement in the winter. I've had good results with both as my truck was up in maine weather 3 below zero, (no wind) and with wind it was around -40, for a week and nothing froze up on me. The diesel kleen I run in the summer, show's about 1-2mpg better depending on how I drive. If I am on highway, I do better than city obviously, but when I don't use the additive, I notice less mpg. I do agree with everybody, it adds lubricant and other good things to the fuel which helps your pumps, and everything else live longer.
I have run power service for almost 200K miles in my chevy 6.5td getting 1-2mpg increase and no negative effects. I now running a lucas/PS mix in both trucks with a bit more power than straight PS and 1-2mpg increase over regular #2 diesel.

Someone needs to start selling a little bottle of sulfur that we can add to get our lubricity back. You know......like the little bottles of lead additive they sell at Wal-Mart for the o'l timey non-unleaded cars.
What I understand is that the sulfur itself is not the lubricating element.......it's the process they use to remove the sulfur that also removes lubricity from the fuel...........back to square one, add lubricity with additive.

Thanks fellas. I have put Power Service in my truck a couple of times but not regularly. I think I may start using it more often just to do whatever I can to keep my stock fuel system running until I decide to upgrade it. Now to decide which type to use......
I've been running PS Diesel Kleen w/ Cetane booster. 16oz per tank (about 30 gallons). I didn't this last tank because I ran out and was on the road, but there should still be plenty left in the tank. I haven't really noticed any increase/decrease in milage, but I figure it is better to have that lubricity
I noticed the truck getting louder under medium acceleration at 10,000 miles so I started using Diesel Kleen again (got lazy) and believe it quieted it down. Someone else posted it took a couple of tanks to clean up his injectors.
