any "cons" with a billit flexplate??
any "cons" with a billit flexplate??
i just ordered a billit flexplate, and i've heard some people say they didnt like them, that they didnt flex enough? and some use a Laminated flexplate, i just hope i didnt make a mistake, i mean, what would it do that people hate???
+2 here. The dual mass flywheel is crap. Just more things to fail. My F350 had one and it disintegrated on me. Replaced it with a LUK billet including a larger clutch and all the associated new parts (not that it needed them) for less money than that stupid dual mass alone. One of the best things to ever happen to that truck.. Ford has learned BTW and does not use that crap anymore. I love my Dodge but I was miffed when I discovered they are using a DM flywheel. I mean the freaking solid front hubs are ridiculous enough. What is with Dodge and the crap technology?
Now I have to spend $1500+ to replace front hubs etc that will wear out prematurely and get a MPG or two in the process?
Sorry, don't mean to HJ the thread but I am getting POed at the extra $ I have to keep putting into this truck to get the same chassis durability and MPG that my old Ford came with stock.

No, only because I had the whole trans and torque converter done at the same time. When I look at a stock flexplate, I truly wonder how they stand up to stock torque levels. Paper thin is an exaggeration, but not by much...

Cowboy 6,
These guys are talking flex plates for the auto tranny, not fly wheels for the manual tranny.
And if your Ford was a later model it had the same unitized bearings as your current Dodge.
You guys can do what you want, but I wouldn't run my trucks like I do without a Billet Flexplate! I have the ATS Billet Flexplates in booth my 1996 and my 20006. I have broken the stock ones and when they go it is not pretty!
I have seen the stock ones completely break the entire center out!
IMHO, if you are running alot of H.P. and torque in your trucks you better look into the billet flexplates! IMHO, there are only two kinds of stock Dodge flexplates,......."the ones that have broke and the ones that are going to break!
" It is cheap insurance and a part in the tranny alot of guys forget about.
