Another SMARTY question for Bob or Marco about High Idle. . .
Another SMARTY question for Bob or Marco about High Idle. . .
I was into the dealer to get my 30,000 check up done and I ask for them to do the high idle flash. When I got home I reinstalled SMARTY and the next morning start up and no high idle. Is this because SMARTY does not have this or what? I am using the program that came with SMARTY, and I have the early 06. By the way I had the trans check up and serviced at this time and it is in perfect condition, it is stock and I have been running SMARTY on level 3 for about a year!

nope. mine was activated by the dealer. what you do is turn the cruise on then hit the set button and it should come up to 1100rpm. to raise it hit the accell button and to lower hit the decel button. it will not go lower than 1100 though. try it out and let me know.
ah-hah now I understand the question.
the basic high idle comes standard and comes on if it's cold enough and the truck is in park and i think the parking brake has to be on. All of these conditions have to be met for some period of time. Mine didn't do it as soon as I started it but would do it while i was out scraping the windshield.
The other high idle can be activated regardless of temp. This one has to be enabled by the dealer or aftermarket programmer. Manual trucks have to do some hardware stuff, but automatics are all set after it's been enable thru the ecm. Turn on the cruise, then press and briefly hold the set button. The engine will idle up to about 1100 rpm. You can then adjust the idle speed up/down with the accel/decel buttons.
hope this helps,
jeff.

I hear ya. I was working for a chrysler dealer at the time when I bought mine. I had a tech at work do it rather than going to the dodge dealer. I asked the dodge dealer and they were like, HUH?

Same exact thing when I asked to have the ECM reprogrammed for 285's.
