Alright so I'm new to the site and Cummins family!!

Just bought a 04 3500 4x4 4 weeks ago got rid of a 7.3 powerstroke and wow what an upgrade! Truck only has 75k miles I'm just curious as to what some common problems these particular trucks have, would like to prevent any engine failures?? Thanks

Welcome to DTR!!

First we will need to know if it is an 04 or 04.5. They made some mid year changes. Easiest way is just give of the Manufacture date on the door tag.

Welcome to DTR. Most common issues with 3rd gens include:

Injectors
Ball Joints
U-Joints
HVAC Doors
Canister Mounted Lift Pumps (03-04)

This is just a starter list.....enventually all of this will become 2nd nature to you but in the end you'll still enjoy the Cummins over the Joke!!!!

Oh yeah....upgrade to 2mic fuel filter immediately!!!!!!
