AirDog150 into stock fuel filter housing...

Is there a problem going into the stock fuel filter housing (because of the heater), then into a big line kit (1/2" line), then into the CP3 on my 05 truck?I thought of this when talking to another member in the TN chapter. Will the stock housing leak or burst under the greater pressure? Help me....Thanks Also, what is the smallest numerical filter for this stock housing?
Thanks again..

yeah you can run it that way...the AD's psi is not too high for the plastic lid...but if you ever bump up the psi from what if comes set at I would start think about a billet lid...you can run it with or with out the stock filter in place if you want too...Baldwin makes a 5 micron filter that fits inside the stock filter housing.....PF7977...https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=141363

I believe the billet lid is recommended somewhere around 40 psi. I run a solid 20 psi continuously and have no problems with the plastic lid.

I only kept the stock filter because of the fuel heater. Why would it not help in really cold temps?

I would think the factory filter setup would limit flow and back down to the injection pump. I wouldnt think the fuel heater can help much if the fuel were going to gel it would back at the tank and cause problems before it ever got there.

Yah, and you'll be feeding the CP3 with that restrictive little line so you'll need to get a big line kit ontop of the AD.

I'm interested in this too, can get nippy up here in BC,

Well I ran my 750hp run with a Fass 150 feeding my dual pumps thru the factory filter and small factory line from the filter housing. I understand that a bigger line would lead to less restriction, but at the same time the rail can only take but so much fuel/volume at once. It doesnt seem to be holding me back as of yet, and I am more concerned with burning the fuel as easily as possible so I will keep my factory heater/filter for now.

I just cant imagine the heater making much difference when the fuel is going in and out of the canister so fast...what about all the fuel in the rest of the fuel lines that froze/gelled overnight??
any way you do it will be fine obliviously the stock filter does not restrict to much if Rye can hit his numbers on the stock filter...it's just preference.
I wanted to clean up my engine bay so I ditched mine..my truck has sat on the north side of my house with no sun for a week in the 10*-20* temps and I still have not had any gelling problems....
do what ever you want all I was saying was that you can run it that way if you want.

Thats how I run most of the ones I install, unless the customer specifies otherwise. I run my FP gauge (quad rpg) on the CP3, and see 16-18psi all the time with my FASS and the Airdogs are right in there also. I really dont think that line is terribly restrictive.

I also run mine thru the factory set up. Never a problem here.
