AirDog installed but cuts out

Finally got the Airdog 100 installed. Want to say thanks to Tobby and Anthony of Airdog for their help in getting needed parts to me ASAP!!! A company that stands behind their product - way to go!!!

But - I've got a small issue I haven't spoke to them about. Thought I'd run it by you guys.

At full throttle with Juice on #5 the motor sputters once boost kicks in almost like its not getting enough fuel. I have a fuel gauge coming tomorrow so I can see if I'm being starved of fuel or not.

The problem with my install is I have a Jacobs exhaust brake and the vacuum pump is mounted directly above the CP3 pump. This prevented me from plumbing the airdog directly to the CP3. I had to go to the stock filter canister and then used the stock lines from the bottom of the canister to the CP3. Yes - the stock fuel filter is removed.

I can't imagine using the stock line can have that much of an impact ... but maybe it does?

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever plumbed their airdog this way and had similar issues?

Thanks!

With pump running to the stock fuel line you may very well be limiting the rail. I've got the 150 plumbed 1/2" all the way to the cp-3. Bullydog downloader set to extreme I still run 15psi at WOT. And yes, a huge thanks to Toby @ AirDog for all of the troubleshooting he helped me with.

To see if you have a pressure drop at the CPS you are going to run into a problem again with the E-brake. Is it possible to remove the pump for a couple of "test" runs to see if infact that it is the stock lines causing the problem??

Mine is plumbed through the factor housing, (no filter), and then through a 2 micron ff, then to the cp3. 1/2" line up to factory housing then 3/8 line to 2 micron and cp3. At wot 15psi with the Quad on the truck.

Couple things.. .You could use a high flow banjo and banjo to push lock fitting at the CP3 to get under the vacuum pump (similar to what GDP uses on the MK2+ big line kit)...

You could also add a big line kit from the OE filter to the CP3, giving you 3/8, or 1/2" if you wanted, from the filter bowl to the CP3. Same thing there you can get either JIC or high-flow banjo fittings..

Now on a side note I would not remove the OE filter, or I would add a better F/W sep.. The F/W sep used by AD and FASS on filters 50% of free water and 0% of emulsified water. The OE specs are 95% for both free and emulsified.

Yep - will do!

Is there a kit or another way to plumb it without losing the vacuum pump for the brake? I really can't live without that. Too bad there isn't a large bango fitting that will work with the 1/2" line coming straight from the fuel pump.

Thanks again for all your help. Like I said before you guys have been extremely helpful and definitely support your product well after the sale is made....not something too many vendors do anymore!

I would look at the GDP Big line kit. 3/8" is 70% larger than stock.

What fittings are on your OE filter bowl?

Banjo.

I ordered the big line kit...thanks!

Between the spring and the larger kit I think I'll be ok! Going to install spring first and test drive, then kit to see if it really makes a difference.

Thanks again guys!!!

Do you have hi-flow banjo's? The big line kit will remove the output banjo, but the input banjo is still stock flow, unless you have changed it.

You will like the kit, its a PITA getting to the CP3 with the vacuum pump, but its doable.

Stock line from filter canister to cp3.

I was thinking of just using the low profile banjo that comes with the kit and plumb the airdog directly to it. The only reason I was going through the stock canister was to get to the cp3.

You could do that, but you don't have to buy the whole kit for that... Richard sells just the banjo.

If you keep the stock bowl then I would change the input banjo, if your still using the stock one...

Also, did you see what I said about f/w sep? The OE filter shouldn't affect your flow, its rated for higher flow than AD f/w sep and the same flow as the fuel filter...

One time I saw a truck set up like yours (with vacume pump blocking the feed line) and the air dog was actually feeding the retrun. The truck ran ok, but would die under wot....
