Air Filter and Warranty
Air Filter and Warranty
I was wondering if you 3rd gen guys could help me out. My stepdad has a 05 CTD, shortly after buying it he installed the Airaid cold air kit on his truck, and I was wondering if it meets Dodge and Cummins filter requirements? I have a BHAF on my 97 CTD, I used to have a K&N until I found that they don't filter as good as the stock filter. I'm not sure if Airaid's filters are any better than K&N, if they aren't what would be a good filter setup to recommend to my stepdad that will meet Cummins requirements?
Thanks for the help...Josh

I was up at my local Dodge dealer recently having a problem taken care of and I asked the parts man about improvements I could make to the engine without voiding the warranty and he told me the only thing he could recommend was the Airaid cold air system.
He told me all it really did was to improve the airflow into the engine.
He also told me it would not void the warranty because they sold it and had it in their parts room as a display.
Personnaly, I am keeping my as stock as possible, with the exceptions of some gauges and the like, to avoid any possibility of voiding my warranty. Go ahead, call me chicken.

To many people play risk when they come to mods and warrenties. However I'm the oposite where I don't want them working on my truck due to the lack of knowledge. I mean some of these guys tell me there's not a problem and they take my cab lights off and there full of water. I looked at him, said didn't think they came like that from the factory. Yeah I really hate letting them work on it. However they have worked on it with gauges, the quad box, everything and never said a word, so they are good with working on stuff (replacing stuff) When it comes time for fuel pump all that, doing that myself.
Thanks for the info DMH thats what I need to here. I call that being smart also. The only thing mods I did to mytruck until the warrenty ran out was a different air filter and exhaust. The cummins is to expensive to take chances of not getting something fixed under warranty if there is a problem.
Luckly I never had to take advantage of the warranty, but now that its ran out I wouldn't dream of taking my truck to the dealer, if it had a problem I couldn't take care of it would go to cummins. That hasn't happened either Luckly.
Thanks guys...Josh
