After Market Differential Cover

I am thinking about getting another cover for my differential that has both a fill plug and drain plug. I haven't started to search for one yet because I wanted to make sure it's a good idea and ask for comments from all you experienced people. Anything is appreciated. Thanks

It's usually a good idea to remove the cover and examine the diff / gears / bearings as much as possible, and spray it all down with carb cleaner and clean the bottom of the diff on every change.

Mag-Hytec is the cover, and has what you're looking for.

I have a PML diff cover on the way that's for the AAM 11.5".

do any of these covers improve ground clearance? I'm not happy about the 7.5" clearance from the 11.5 AAM

No, just fluid volume

There are a couple of drawbacks to the Mag, it does not use all the mounting bolts and the dipstick is not calibrated to match the factory fill hole level, when it is on full on the dipstick it is actually about 2 quarts above the fill hole. Be sure also if you get a Mag that you get the newest one, they made a number of them that leaked from having the O-ring seal not routed correctly for the Dodge.
The PML cover is a simpler design, it uses the factory gasket, all the mounting holes, a fill hole that is the same level as the factory cover, and it's about $100 cheaper.

I'm looking into a clear one from Cleargears, if that's how it's spelled. Made from the stuff bulletproof windows are made from.

Ya gotta watch the Plexi-glass ones.
They provide very little protection when off road, and no bracing against stress on the pumpkin bearings.

Thanks for the suggestions! The PML is exactly what I was in the market for.:D

Hopefully my PML cover will be here for this weekends installation. I will post some pics when done.

Afternoon,
Betram is right:

"The PML cover is a simpler design, it uses the factory gasket, all the mounting holes, a fill hole that is the same level as the factory cover, and it's about $100 cheaper."

The PML pans are also not powder coated as that is an incredible insulator, you wouldn't wrap a blanket around your engine to over heat it, why would you do it to your diff or tranny! They come with magnetic drain plugs are cap screw hardware, no O ring to fail ( and not be available) and the boss for a temp sender is cast in but not drilled, that way those that don't need it don't have a potential leak and those that do can tap it real easily.

PML also found that adding too much fluid prevents quick cool down times and doesn't reduce the overall temp reduction at all. IE more HOT fluid takes longer to cool down, and too much fluid doesn't cool any better than the correct amount of fluid increase anyway. So the PML cools just as well and saves you fluid cost, especially if your doing synthetics!

Give us a call we stock them all and are glad to answer any questions you might have.
