62/12 turbo is it worth it???

I have a chance to pick up a HTT 62/12 for a pretty decent price, I think, I was wondering if it will be worth it?

How much cooler will it run than the stock charger I have now and will I really notice that much more performance?

What would be a good price on a used low mile HTB2 62/12?

Truck is a daily driver, don't take it to the track or anything, just a little playing around from time to time and I tow a boat or camper in the summer, but nothing real heavy.

Thanks

Id go for it, for your mods it would cool you down quite a bit w/ the X2 on kill. It would probably take a tad long to spool if you have an auto, but if you have a 6speed you probably wont notice.

I ran the htb2 62/12 for a year.Excellent all around turbo. Will lower your egt's and be great for towing and some play.If the performance bug hadn't bit me I would still have that turbo.Very quick spool up with stock sticks and moderate programmer.Could easily get 40-45lbs of boost.Egt's never got over 1200* towing heavy in the mountains.I say go for it.

dont do it

it wont lower your egts if you add anymore fuel, save your money and go with twins when you can afford it, or dont add anymore fuel and stay with the stock turbo ... in my opinion the power gain is not worth the money, it wont be that great.

I'm running a HTT 62/12 on my truck which has a 6 speed and it takes just a wee bit longer to start spooling than the stock huffer but it really comes on like gang busters especially when towing. I like it and it works well for me. I use my truck primarily for towing, see my auto signature, I don't race, sled pull, or play much; very good street manners.

Dude i would get it. And with your fueling it would spool great. Especially if you decide you might even want like 50 horse nozzles it'll still cool it. I think you'll like it. And if the price is right, what are you losing?

I had stock and flux1's with this turbo and kept egt's very in check. For what he wants to do it is a great fit.The power gain is well worth the money if this is the fueling level he wants to stay at.Twins will need more fuel, more programming and more money. In my opinion it is well worth the money!

Twins are great if you wanna spend the bank but for the style of drivin you described I agree that it would be a nice fit. What kinda price ARE you lookin at anyway? I bought my Aurora 5000 for $1000 used from a guy on here who I assume wasnt expecting lag(?). I would assume it would be there or below.

I have 62/13ss and it lowered my Egt's---- I love it and would get exact same turbo again. Will bark duals in 4th gear, and also pulls my horse trailer like it is a push mower. Get it. If you ever want twins you would already have one of your turbos.

turbo

i bought a 62/13 and it did not lower my egts at all!!!!! I would peg the egt's on juice level 4! Stock sticks @ 35# of boost. Level 5 i would hit 1450 in less than the 1/8 mile. So for me it's not worth it? But everyone has an opinion. I would not do it again. I'll do twins when i can afford it, and use my stock turbo as the top one, lots of set ups out there that pull the house down.

I just dont see how this turbo will consistently cool 500-550 horsepower but not keep your edge j w/a cool. But running a lot of duration gets warm no matter what...

ever run a hot juice

cukoo.... have you ever run a hot juice? I have and can honestly say the hot "level 5" for my year ctd juice makes more power than a smarty on level 9, way more fuel, which makes more heat, like i said "in my opinion" not worth it, i dont make 550 hp.... yet......

yelloz28 isn't running an Edge hot juice so this doesn't really apply to him.He is asking for a good all around turbo for towing and some light play. The 62/12 will do that very easy.
