Yes I have it but its not on the truck just yet. Part number is #M101181. It is 10” diameter x 51” long, has 5” inlet and outlet. To locate a dealer I clicked on this link Just click “exhaust” then “state” and “area code”. I called several, some didn't know what that was yet as it’s so new, I settled on a dealer (Delta Truck Center in Modesto CA) that knew what it was, gave me a delivery date and ordered it with no deposit. It goes on Tuesday and I have already prerecorded 0-60 WOT EGT and cruise EGT’s to compare and will make the same runs afterwords on the same course.

Well its hard to say just yet....the cool factor is still sinking in but I do have mixed feelings about this set up.

I know I decreased back pressure as that is obvious with the size pipe I used and the mufflers specs, I also decreased EGT by a whopping 25 degrees!

As for keeping it quiet one would think the "Silent Partner" would be pretty quiet and I was hoping for close to stock sound level but ended up with a very deep tone that is most noticeable under load in a higher gear. I feel kinda like a bus driver now.

Under certain RPM's it can be real quiet but lugging it emits a sound so deep I can't help but wonder if its the "drown" everyone talks about. Sounds like a tone from a sub-woofer.

I am wondering if the 5" tail pipe section being so big is acting like a drum and actually amplifying the tone from the muffler.
I am thinking a 4" tail pipe might be more quiet with the same muffler.

I do like it way better than stock but would like to take a ride in another truck with quiet exhaust to compare.

Matt400,

A 4" tip would definately change the sound. Another option is a tip with the resonator build into it. I tried one before I settled on the 4" x 6" x 24" and it definately quieted it down. Rip has them, I don't know what the cost is.

If memory serves, the 10" dia 5" in/out 51" muff (Nelson 86132)flows considerably more than the 9" dia 4" in/out 51" muff which is Nelson part number 86131 (the donaldson numbers escape me at the moment). Anyway, the 5" flow through design of the bigger 86132 would definately contribute a bigger / lower and louder sound. The 86132 in the Nelson catalog is also spec'd louder by a few dB.

I have the banks exhaust on my truck and the sound is a bit louder than I want without a load. When I am pulling the 5th wheel it is way too loud. I neeed something quieter that will keep the EGT down where it is now.

Is that cruising or extended WOT? I would expect more under a heavy load.

Don-T,
I pull a 28' travel trailer and the 51" Nelson is not much louder than stock. I think you might like it.

That was WOT doing a 0-60 run empty, cruise (empty) remained unchanged but just this evening towing our 4000 lb boat I noticed I was able to pull on level 3 with the VA and it was staying much cooler. I usually tow on #2 setting but just for fun turned it up a notch and all looked good.

This is not your standard muff, its a brand new design from Donaldson and while it is geared to reduce EB noise they say it also is very quiet on the other end too.
There is a neat picture of it and info in a pdf format here:
http://www.donaldson.com/en/exhaust/...ary/000369.pdf

Towing with it this evening produced in cab drone that is very loud and the wife made sure to point that out, in fact she said... oh! this is nice, we should get some head phones to listen to the stereo now

Matt400,

That muffler has a baffle in it just like the one I sent back to FleetPride (86713M Nelson). Look closely at the right side of the muffler, they collapsed the perforated pipe. It's collapsed in 4 places, so the end looks like this: X from the end.

The Nelson I used 86131M, you can look all the way through it with no obstructions! I also think it was quieter that the 86713M.

Bob-

Have you noticed any drone or additional vibration with the 86131M? Towing? Empty? or....?

Matt400,

I have towed my travel trailer over 2500 miles with it. It's a little louder than stock at high RPM, but it has not been annoying to me or my wife, and my ears don't ring after driving for a couple of hours like the use to with the WHITE OBSESSION!
