Having my 2004.5 48re upgraded with a 3 disc torque convertor locally made and upgrading valve body by Goerend Bros. My question concerns a thrust washer upgrade that the stock trannys were having problems with while using exhaust braking. Have heard that they were upgraded in latter part of 2004. My truck was built 01/04. Is this more than 1 washer and where is it located.....appreciate any info.........

 

I have not heard much about the thrust washer since the first reviews came out. I believe if it were a problem we would be hearing about.

I will be doing much the same as you. The trans guy recommended a billet input shaft ( expensive I Know) but he claims that stock trucks can break a stock shaft.
