Question 4" Downpipe ?'s

I'm looking to upgrade the stock down pipe on my 2003 Dodge to a 2004.5 up 4" down pipe. I've purchased the late model exhaust elbow but i'm looking for a source & part # for the down pipe. Has anybody noticed any improvement doing this swap? Thank you for any help!!

If you have the elbow already then you know you can buy any of the aftermarket systems that fit the newer trucks. Why not go that route?

You can get the downpipe from Mopar as well. Most advise to also buy the clamp, as the old one doesn't like to be taken off after all the heat cycles.

52121285AA – clamp
52121600AA – downpipe

http://www.makeitmopar.com/
shows the pipe for $67.31, and the clamp for $14.81.

I have a 2003 QC Short Bed and want to go to a 4" exhaust. Does anyone have the part number for the elbow to adapt the turbo to the 4" downpipe? Also, when a company lists an exhaust as a turbo back does that usually include the downpipe and just connects to the elbow or does it connect to the bottom of the downpipe?

I read in one publication or another a year or so back that switching from 3.5 to 4" on the elbow reduces backpressure by better than 80%. That 1/2" increase in radius adds almost 3 square inches in area. That's got to add quite a bit of flow to the exhaust system!! IMHO
Cheers
Mike

I did 4" muffler back on my 97 and gutted the cat first. Then I did the 4" downpipe and BHAF. Those last two mods didn't even make 1 mph difference on my test hills but mostly helped spoolup. I'd have to see dyno results to believe the turbo elbow is a problem on the 305s. I did the 51" Donaldson and 4" pipe from the trans back on my 305 and have the stuff to build a 4" downpipe but I put that on the FAR back burner for now. Does anybody have dyno results on the 4" elbow and downpipe? Craig

So just so I am clear .. this elbow will hook right up to a 2003 turbo and then I need to get an 04.5-06 exhaust and it will mount to the truck with no modifications?
