3rd gen box question

On the 04.5 and newer trucks I have read that the 3rd injection event is for keeping the exhaust hot enough to keep the catalytic converter temp up. I have also read that eliminating the 3rd event leads to the pistons swelling in the bore, causing havoc. Has anybody tried completely reprogramming the injection events on one of these yet? Just starting from scratch, maybe even using only one event like the 2nd gen trucks? Anything like this in the works? Did I miss something really obvious and this isn't practical? I'm looking to pick up some knowledge on this particular subject. Just as an aside, I'm one of the guys who wouldn't mind if his truck sounded like a 2nd gen. Quiet is ok, but I don't have any problem with loud either.;)

It would be great if someone came up with an "off-road only" reprogram like that. A marine application??? I am sure emisions law would not allow the use of such a program on the road.

We have been told that the reflash for mileage either eliminates the third pulse or reduces it to accomplish the mileage increase. Maybe you should check with your dealer about the reflash, then consider an aftermarket box along with gauges.

I didn't realize that the mileage came out of the 3rd event. I've already got it done to mine, and have been scoping the boxes. Gagues are on the to-do list. I'm just kind of surprised nobody has made a "race only" box with this set up.

There is a marine application, but they use seawater aftercooling which is way more effective than the air-to-air system on our trucks. This allows for a much denser intake air charge that subsequently allows you to efficiently burn way more fuel per cycle, and therefore have much more boost/power.
