2500 hemi vs 2500 cummins(red light)

my truck is mildly moded, around 350 hp. my question is how about a stock hemi, at a red light and at 60mph roll and kick?
well i have done both.
at the red light the hemi got his tailgate just in front of my bumper, by 4th gear he could pull me no more,by 5th i started catching him, by 75mph i had caught him and went around.
at 60mph i pulled right from the start and the faster we went the more i pulled .
is this normal
should the hemi not run off and leave the almost stock cummins???

From the hole it would be expected that the Hemi would be ahead due to your turbo lag if you weren't building boost.

Anything done to the Hemi?

I did the same thing with my buddy and his hemi. 0-60 he had left me off the line and at 4th gear i walked away from him we did a 50mph stomp and lets just say after the black smoke cleared i was gone LOL. But when i go into my BD programmer and put in the low end HP from the line i hang with him up untill 3rd then i am gone.

Racing at a red light? I thought you were supposed to stop?

There are lots of issues, if it was pound for pound, I would say no issue with the diesel winning, but again compare apples for apples. If you have a 325hp turbocharged diesel, the guy with the hemi should be alloud a turbo as well. I have seen the old non turbo diesels, and if it was an old diesel against a new hemi, hemi no problem. I would bet money a stock ducati bike would spank just about any modded diesel ram (for a heck of a lot les money), but again apples to apples. Also consider the fact that most paid the book value (4,500 dollars) for the upgrade to diesel. If I had a hemi with 4,500 dollars I know I could get it to do a lot more than a stock diesel (again considering you do your own work) and save labor.

Racing at red lights was at high school (or at the track) i can think of 100 other things to do at a red light with her in the truck than sure worry about some guy in a hemi.... In fact if your worried about the guy in the hemi, your already nervious...

Bet my Busa would spank most Duc's in a 1/4 mile run for alot less money.

That being said just saw a Motor week (pickuptruck.com did the shootout) which they compared 6 full size crew cab pickups (2009 model years) 4x4s in a head to head (using the biggest V-8s available in each truck). Chevy and Toyota were quickest, then GMC. Dodge came in 5th through the 60, 4th in the quarter (all unloaded). Loaded, Dodge was the 5th in the 60, 5th in the quarter.

Also remember the CTD in a 2500 is a signifigantly heavier truck than a 1/2 ton with a Hemi. Moving that much more weight just as fast or faster than a lighter truck is what makes me smile

apples to apples would be taking the same size trucks, which is the case, and doing a power to weight ratio. i think the hemi has the advantage there. not saying the hemi would win, but thats more like apples to apples in my opinion.turbo doesn't add power per say, it does add air and forces it for a more complete burn.you can put the biggest turbo on any diesel truck, but if you don't give it more fuel, what have you gained???
i will take the diesel over the hemi any day of the week. my buddies hemi truck, 07, is a dog, and really bad on fuel.we can go to the same place, and he will fill up 2 times to my once.

That says it all right there. No hemi powered truck is going to knock down 20+mpg and yet, let 'er spool up and there's 400+hp going to the clutch.

Specially nice with the current price of diesel.

got to drive my old man's hemi for a day. and yes i will admit it is fast. however you can see where it falls short on the hills when it likes to downshift compared to my truck which just goes faster the more you press on the pedal.
