2' spacers installed truck is not even any more

just installed 2 spacers and truck on driverside sits 3/4" higher. Is there a certain way the sprind should sit. Is there a taper in the bottom spring bucket? thanks

Your spring may not be properly seated in the lower bucket, you may be missing a rubber from the upper bucket. Or maybe you the spring compressor is still attached? :)

I also took mine in for a four wheel alignment just to make sure everything was still straight when I was done.

Take the spacers out and put about 1000lbs in the bed to "level" your truck!! :)

What 2" spacer do you have? I noticed that with the HBS 2" kit you have to make sure the top end of the spring seat well with the stock rubber.

I used watered down dish soap to lube the rubber so it would slide when I put it back togeather.

the spring is seated fine, no compresser. I'm just wondering if the spring needs to be put in a proper position. Maybe I'll have to rotate it some. any info would be great. thanks I have the top gun customz one.

Derek Timm Mar 25, 2006 08:20 AM

Did you mark the end position of the springs when you installed them?

bluesurf Mar 25, 2006 08:21 AM

no. That is where I went wrong. Of course it wasn't in the directions.

bluesurf Mar 25, 2006 08:22 AM

do you remember what position the end of spring is. Is it frontt, back, left or right. Thanks

Derek Timm Mar 25, 2006 08:25 AM

I'll be right back I'm gonna dive under the front and check.

by chance you didn't have them both out at the same time and get them switched left and right did you? I think they are different rates left / right......

Are you sure it wasn;t like that from the factory and you just didn't notice it??? I know mine and alot of others lean to the right side from the factory... heck mine is about 1/2 difference and it has never been touched... This was brought up a while back and after some guys started looking, alot of them realized that thiers where also... [whistle]

You also have to realise that 1/2" difference is only 1/4" lean (since you have to spilt the diff.) but if it matters that much you could go to the dealer and get another "spring isloator" and stack it on the lower side.

It shouldn't make a difference where the coil is rotated.

The right spring is #984AA and the left is #985AA

Spring ends at the bottom are inline with the axle knuckle stearing pivots.

No I kept them seperate. so that is not it. the truck is new so Maybe it was off from factory and I havent noticed it yet. Not sure. i will rotate the spring so the 2 sides are about the same and see if that helps. I didn,t think that it mattered since there are no pockets for the spring ends like a jeep. We'll see. Thanks for looking at your truck for me I appreciate it. thanks for all the good tips. If none of this works I'll just get some factory isolaters and go tat route. Thanks

Derek Timm Mar 25, 2006 09:21 AM

Spring position probably doesn't make much difference since there both flat end with flat pockets. It was just the recomendation for HBS to keep them in the same location.
