2" leveling kits. To shock or not to shock

I have read several people saying different things. I found a leveling kit that is made with a shock extender and it states that new shocks are not needed. They are manufactured by a company called Suspension Maxx. Can anyone that has used them please chime in and let me know what you think? Thanks

Greasy thanks for chiming in. I am not too familiar with 3rd gens yet.
I know I have a buddy who has a 2006 2500 and when he just added a kit whenever he hit bumps on the highway he said he would get a serious death wobble and would have to pull over to get it to stop. He said it went away after he installed new longer shocks.

Well their is always a good, better, best way. Longer Coils and shocks are by far the best way. All depends on your budget and how often and long you drive your truck. I would never run a spacer, or shock extenders. Is it done sure, but I bet if you ride in a truck with spacers or blocks and then ride in a truck with proper coils and shocks you will notice a difference.

Good point Rye. I was hoping some members who have used them would chime in on ride quality.

I have a 2" leveling kit on mine, and after the first tow I ran out and bought the longer shocks. With my heavy trailer in tow, every bump or roll in the road would max out the stock shocks and it didnt sound/feel good.

MTC this is really only going to be used to tow my camper. So this is a concern. Did your original kit have the shock extenders on them?

No shock extenders...I put on a 2" leveling kit and that was it. I tow a 34' travel trailer about once a month. The first tow after the kit was very scary when I hit bumps or "whoop de do's" in the road. The problem wasnt compression of the shocks, it was the extension. The shocks would "top out" causing a loud noise and a horrible bang.

I hated the look of the truck being nose high when loaded with a trailer so I added 2" rear lift blocks and it solved the problem....I was looking into the Bilstein 5100 shocks but lifting the rear solved my issue.

Ok guys, after taking into consideration what fellow members have told me and looking over and reading as much info as I can I think I am looking at going in a different direction. Since ride quality is my main objective as well as a nice ride height (just added a RH Legend front bumper) I am thinking of going with a set of Rancho #RS80121B front springs that are suppose to give 2.5" front lift. My worry is that they will provide more lift than that. They can give up to 4" of lift.
Has anyone ever used these springs before and can shed some comforting word that they look great on the truck????
I also am considering one of the three choices of replacement shocks.
Has anyone ever used any of these three shock choices? I want a great ride quality.

RS5317, RS999317XL, or RS7317

As always your guys helpful info are greatly appreciated

I would go with something non rancho, I haven't had good luck with their products. Try something like these kits that include the Bilstein shocks:

Those are top of the line kits and pricey, Lorenz has some great stuff at a more economical price. I ran his leveling kit on my Dually and loved it.

Kore and Carli are your top of the top and awesome though.

Like said above, I would also stay away from Rancho and go with Bilsteins...just my experience.
