06 Automatic with E-brake

A fella at work just bought a new truck, an 06 auto and it has a Cummins E-brake on it as an option.
Is this something new or can the E-brake be used with all the 3rd gens with autos now?

as of right now the e-brake is only available to the 06 autos. No word has been released yet if they will have an upgrade for the 05 autos to accept the e-brake...
