04 Tire size and fitment question

Hi, just got an 04 2500 quad cab 4X4 CTD. I want to put the ARE Wolverines 20X9 O offset w/ 5"backspace together with BFG 37X12.5X20. My measurements show they will fit without mods???? Any experiences?

There is no way a 37" or even a 35" really will fit w/out some sort of lift. I have 33x12.50 on an 18" wheel and they still rub a slight bit.

Generally speaking, you will need at least a 2" leveling kit in front to run 35s on an aftermarket wheel.

What is your backspace? The factory 17" rim measure about 6". The wolverine is a 5. Is the rub issue with the trailing arm or the fenders?

I think the factory rim is about 6.25" backspacing. I'm running 35" BFG's with no lift and no rubbing. If you go to a rim with less backspacing, it puts the tire further out and will cause rubbing with 35" tires (and even 33" tires) at the back of the front wheel well.

There is no way a 37" tire will fit on a stock truck with any rim. From what I've seen, you probably need a 6" lift to fit a 37" tire.

I'm quite sure that you'll need at least a 6 inch lift to get 37s on a 20x9 inch rim to fit without rubbing on back of front fender well.

Thanks for the input. I like the idea of the 34.5 inch 315/H2 rim combo I saw on the other threads.

35inch

I have a 2004.5 4x4 QC and had a 2inch levelling kit with 18inch rims and 35inch Toyo "Open Country", quite an aggressive looking tread pattern. They dont rub....

I just put on the Toyo Open Country m/t 37x13.5x20 on my truck I have a superlift all spring 6"lift and they still rub slightly on my driverside fender upon suspension compression. I can attest there is absolutly no way to run 37" tires on a stock truck.

by the way 37's look awesome on the 3rd gens!!!

Hey Batts, do those things fling up stones like no tomorrow, or water when you go through a puddle? I love the look but I bet the side of your truck is gonna get massacred in the next few years..

I have only had them on for about a week, but It seems like they kick up less rocks, than the swampers I had on before, and they are miles ahead in ride quaility.
No pics yet I will post them as soon as I have time.
