04 1/2 turbo/cp3 questions
Let's see... Back story. Bad injectors washed down 1, 3 and 6... Mega blow by.
Truck specs
04 1/2 with 5600. South bend DD clutch.
Currently I have the long block assembled. Had to go with .040 pistons. I installed a colt stage 3 cam. I have BBI stage 1 injectors. I am installing the glacier diesel mega rail on the motor... 6.7 fuel rail and intake horn. I have a smarty box I run on the timing settings.
My question is... I would like to do a set of towing twins. I do not care about sled pulling or drag racing. I can tow some pretty heavy loads and usually tow a moderate load a fair amount. I want good reliable power and decent millage if I am out of it. Not sure if I can just drop another 4-5k on a set of twins. Can I start with one that will not suck and add later or just say F it and go big. Also... The old cp3 has 270k on it. I cannot see putting it back in the trick. Will the stock pump be up to the task or do I need a upgraded one. Are they worth it or are they grenades? I am getting to the end of the road and needing some info before I go forward.

A stocker/S475 compound kit would be your answer. Its a common set up that many people do and they work great. Since your just using it for towing, you won't need upgraded fuel pump and CP3. Now you won't get the best towing performance out of this set up unless you get HP tunes or UDC pro, custom tuning. Also that bigger fuel rail won't do anything for you.
