[b]We need a Variable Geometry Turbo Now!!![b]
Guys, What's going on that we can't get a big variable geometry turbo on our trucks, NOW!!?? Banks has been working on one, ATS has one on their web site, and Cummins and Holset are putting them on ISB,ISM, and ISX's. I want a big turbo that closes down to exhaust brake (Holset does), spools instantaneously, and opens up to 565hp 1650 ft lb (ISX specs) in a heartbeat. I know a set of twins will do most of it but a VGTwill do it better. What do yall think.
ahhh , be careful what you wish for
if it comes from Cummins with a VGT , that only means that the engine also has a EGR system. I am surprise that the aftermarke company haven't worked with some of these and worked out the calibration issues to make it work also as a exh brakes with the holset turbo's

Guys, I can't believe someone isn't workin on this also. Does anyone have access to pricing for Cummins parts...maybe these turbos are just too expensive a starting point. ks

yes the ISL has the 40 , but you will also have to plumb it for coolant also, all the VGT used on the cummins are coolant cooled. but that wouldn't be that hard to do either. but having the pnuematic controller is a plus, where the ISB turbo is electrically controlled VGT. now to have someone develope a MAP to use this thing would work great.
Guys, Alright, we are starting to cook...with diesel. The 40 will probably give most people all the performance they need but the 55 will give those from 450 to 700 hp all they need and fast. Let's keep this going. ks
Are you talking about a fuel map? Possibly using TPS and RPM?
Who knows what program to use to even create something like that? Then what hardware could you run the program on? Who's holding all the secrets around here?
How about a kit that would you let you add the turbo and use it as an exhuast brake as well on the CR engines? If it won't work as a EB than I'd be happy with a Turbo and controller.
Sorry I have no answers, only questions.

Guys, Considering all the programming power our fueling box vendors have in their craniums ....running an electronic air valve and using our exhaust brake compressors this seems relatively simple. We need a controller box that picks up what volume of air is available to run the compressor and adjusts the air to the air valve accordingly. The controller would ensure the turbo pressures stay in the best range for engine and turbo operation. Banks has done this with the sidewinder but it seems they've moved on to Garrett's Variable Vane turbos. I think its time for a poll. Who's interested in a 1> Super Single 2> Twins or 3> Variable Geometry Turbo.
I think the writing is on the wall that the 2007 Dodge Cummins should have a Variable Geo.Turbo since all the competition does already and Cummins uses it already in most of the other series. The thing is to do it without EGR and still be compliant.
