Why does my truck go into limp mode???

Everytime I go WOT, the truck runs great for a few seconds then the overhead console dings and says "service required..." The truck then goes into limp mode and I have no power. The engine light does not come on, but every few minutes, the overhead beeps at me and re-displays service required. No codes pop up (manual or on Smarty Jr pulling them). This also happens when I tow (9k plus).

I did the Cali-style deletes w/ a Smarty Jr and the only way to make it get out of limp mode is to clear the codes with Smarty Jr, even though no codes appear.

I was doing some searching on a few sites and came across a few different solutions. It was mentioned that the fuel pressure relief valve needs to be shimmed (not plugged) and that would correct the problem. Is this a kit, or something that is homemade? Where and what exactly would I do to shim this valve and correct the problem? I am still in the learning process when it comes to these 6.7's.

Also btw, every so often I get the code P2227 (barometric pressure....) pop up and the engine light comes on. Sometimes it does that after I go into limp mode, and sometimes it does it when just cruising down the road, no wot, just riding up a moderate hill. Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem, just figured I'd throw it out there.

Thanks,

Hunter

Whenever I got the "service required" ding it was for an oil change reminder. If you turn on the key, but don't start the truck, press the gas twice then the brake pedal twice within 10 seconds and turn off the key, it should clear that issue.

Regarding the barometric pressure, is your air filter dirty, what does your filter minder say?

Try that and see what happens.

It only does this when I go WOT, never any other time, so I don't think it has anything to do w/ oil change reminder stuff. If it was related to that, then why would I lose all power?

The air filter is clean as could be and the filter minder is in the normal range.

The only time mine has gone into limp mode was because of a plugged fuel filter, one tank of crap fuel, would run under normal power but I was towing and as soon as I put my foot into it, limp mode.

Nope, not yet. It hasn't done it lately, but I still haven't cleaned the MAP sensor yet either. I towed 15k for over 4 hrs yesterday, and no limp mode.

As far as the ff, I didn't think of replacing that. I'm sure it need to be changed anyway...
