Where did you buy your cap wrench? Thanks!

You can get it anywhere, NAPA, LORCO, probly Sears, whatever. Look for one that fits onto the end of the filter, it has that same little square thing on the end your socket fits into.

You can also get them at Harbor freight... a whole set for less than $10.

I changed my oil in my truck myself this last time around. First time I have changed my own oil in probably 10 years. Glad I did... it was easy. No measuring to do if you change the filter. Just pour in 3 gallons and check it.

For those questioning why I didn't do it sooner... I owned a Chevy and a dealer in my area offered oil changes for $12.95 on Tuesdays (gasser). Why wouldn't you have them do it at that point... they checked fluids and lubed the chassis too! Miss that.

Oil changes on these trucks are so easy everyone should do them. The oil comes out quickly so make sure you have a pan or container that can keep up. I use an empty kitty litter bucket. I reach through the wheel well and loosen the filter by hand but remove it from underneath. Reverse the process to reinstall.

And I replaced my drain plug with an EZ Drain from Geno's:

I use a 5 gallon diesel jug as a used oil holder for my truck and power equipment. It has "USED OIL" written in big letters on it so there are no mix-ups. When it gets full, I dump it out at the local recycle center on the way to town.

I think I'm going to start filtering the oil and adding a gallon or two to a full tank of diesel. Just need to put together a cheap and easy filter setup.

It does, just prefer not to introduce anything into the fuel system that doesn't need to be there, even if it is just into the tank.
