tranny troubles

Having trouble with reverse gear on my truck. It only does it every 20-30 times that I put it in gear and only when it has been sitting for 5 or more hours. When I put it in reverse it acts like its low on fluid ( clutch slipping) for a few seconds, 3-6 seconds. I have no other troubles with it. All forward gears are good the tranny has lock up in 5th and 6th gears according to my Edge CS monitor. I have tried 2 different Solenoid packs and that makes no difference, The fluid is at the full mark after its warm with the tranny in neutral.
Any Ideas ?

Hmm, I'd drop the pan and check the band adjustment first.

Sounds like the TC check valve is stuck open. After my truck sits for several hours I have to wait around 10-15 seconds before I can move. I had my check valve removed to keep constant fluid moving through the TC. (Goerend)

If my memory severs me right there are no bands in the 68RFE transmission.
When was the last time that the transmission was serviced and filters replaced? Did you find any type of debris in the oil?

Jim: I have changed the fluid and filters every 30k or so. it was just done twice in the last 10k. 1st time was to change the solenoid pack because I thought the temp sender in it was bad, I was wrong, bad gauge. Then I changed it again when this occurred and put my original solenoid pack back in thinking the new one might be the problem. I was wrong again. Your right about Bands in this tranny, they don't exist unless there deep in side the housing. Whats a real pain is it only does it once in awhile.

update

Here's an update on my tranny troubles. It's still doing the same thing but a little more often and sometimes in forward. It also now has done what I call the tranny shake. It feels like the tranny is vibrating when I put it in gear, only for a few seconds and only once in awhile. Runs down the road fine and the T.C. locks up in 5th and 6th gears. Just going to keep running it for awhile longer and see what happens next I just love adventure !

mine does the same exact thing let me know what u find out and good luck. also if i wait 10 to 15 seconds and put it in drive it goes fine but with out leaving my drive way about 300 feet from road if i apply the brakes it just keeps wanting to go like the trans is stuck or the torque converter is not sure but if i release and repress the brake it loosens up and it goes back to normal
