starting rebuilt motor

Hello, how do you go about starting a rebuilt engine for the first time? Do you just crank it until it starts and it will bleed the air out of the lines itself? or do you have to crack the lines at the head so that it will bleed out the air? Oh yes common rail 6.7 Thanks

Bump the starter just enough to start the fuel pump running, wait 30'ish seconds then bump it again, wait 30'ish seconds and she should start.
