STARscan options to ask for during prep

Hey folks

Well I'm in KZ status on my truck order and I should be taking delivery pretty soon.

I had a couple of things that I was going to ask the dealer to activate, but wanted to make sure I knew what the STARscan could actually do. I've read about folks getting options turned on, and I know that the dealer prep is pretty much my 1 free opportunity.

1. PTO Idle up feature
2. Hi Beam/Low Beam/Fog Lights on at the same time (what does STAR call this?)
3. Other options that I may not be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your advice

Yes, do tell. What options can you have the dealer enable before picking it up?

I had the seatbelt chime dissabbled, and the high idle feature activated. I would also reccommend that they up the wattage, for the rear defrost ( if equipped), to the max setting. I also had them dissable the horn chirp-lights flash feature when you lock the truck with the key fob. I had all this done and others that I can't remember!

I just got my truck back from the shop yesterday. I bought my truck last month from Dave Smith Motors in Idaho and made the mistake of forgetting to asking them to enable the high idle and Hi Beam/Low Beam/Fog Lights. I live in the Dallas area and took my truck to Dallas Dodge to get them to enable enable the high idle, Hi Beam/Low Beam/Fog Lights, change the pinion factor for larger tires, and get the latest "flash". Dallas Dodge didn't charge me a cent but they didn’t know how to do the Hi Beam/Low Beam/Fog Lights. The seatbelt chime, horn chirp, and lights flash feature can be done yourself on the overhead. Hope your new truck shows up soon !!

Thanks for the posts TXpig and 72Dart!

I'll have to do more looking on Hi Beam/Low Beam/Fog light. I read it in this forum on another starscan subject. I don't want to go into the dealer and look like an idiot, hence the thread

Thanks again for your replies. It would be nice to have a tech article on all the "secret" options enabled by the starscan tool.

If your dealer has figured out how to lower the psi at which the TPMS will trigger the idiot light and alarm ding, have them lower it to 45psi front and rear. That way if you ever run a load range D tire they won't go off every time you start the truck...oh, and let me know if they can so i can go scream at MY local dealer to update their StarScan and do the same...

Thanks BroncoHound. I will look into that one.

It might be a moot issue for me though. I have the 3500, which I don't believe comes with the TPMS. For the sake of this thread, I'll be sure to check into it though.

BTW - I might have figured out the headlight option on another forum. Seems that its a foglight output option. It keeps the fog lamps on when running the hi beams. I am keeping a cheatsheet and I'll post the options I get verification.

Kinda funny, my thread already shows on google when searching on starscan

I think day time running lights are good so I had my dealer turn them on with the starscan.

The only thing about DRLs is that once they are enabled, there is no going back. You can't turn the DRLs off with the StarScan after you turn them on. Make dang sure you want your lights on ALL the time for the rest of the life of the truck before you have them enable it...
