Regeneration At Slow Speed/High RPM?

Here's a quick question, guys. First, I believe I have the latest flash (don't know the # but was performed about 2 months ago). That being said, I was wondering:

If the overhead gives the message that regeneration is required and I'm not near a road that allows speeds over 50 MPH, can I drive the vehicle at high RPM's in a lower gear, and will regeneration take place even though I'm not going over 50 MPH?

The reason I haven't tried this in order to find out is that when I get the message I immediately head to a major road where I can speed up (regeneration works well in this scenario). I'm afraid to experiment while far from a major road and then finding my DPF going towards 100% full and needing to visit a dealer.

So, regeneration possible at low speed/high RPM? Thanks for your advice...

I do not have the latest flash but my truck seems to regen at any speed with out raising the rpm's. I have the edge insight which tells me when it is in regen. Putting the truck into park will stop the regen process but other than that it seems to continue, even when at a stop light. City driving and short trips cause more frequent regens.

Latest flash should be BA. I don't think vehicle speed has much to do with the regen. You should be able to help out the process by the increase in RPM as you're stating, I believe it is more of a time/temperature issue than vehicle speed.

Thanks for the info, guys. I guess the only thing to do is experiment since I'm fairly close to an interstate and can get on it if the "slow speed/high RPM" theory doesn't work. I dread getting the 100% full message and the necessary visit to a dealer.

A few days ago I was carrying a couple of friends with me and was heading to where they were going to be dropped off when that dreaded message came on the EVIC. My friends had to go along with me for a short trip on the interstate in order to clear it. That's what I DON'T like about the DPF system. Like a time bomb, you never know when it's going to happen and you have to drop everything in order to clear it. The positive thing is that the regeneration cycle is MUCH shorter than it used to be (before I got the latest flash). Takes only a few minutes, but still it's a pain
