Regen

I've had my 6.7 a little over three months and it has almost 4,000 miles on it. About 800 of those towing about 8,000 lbs. How would I know when it does a regen? Or will I know. There has been twice that I started it and it ran really crappy with very little throttle response and sounded like a 5.9. Was this a regen?

I talked to a tech about this and with the Cummins he said you will not know-

BigD

Thanks for the reply BigDBP. Maybe it already has done it's thing.
I did notice once that the exhaust, after I stoped, felt really hot.

You should see it on the overhead console if you have it selected. Somewhere there should be a DPF percentage reading available.

Can you get a reading if the DPF is less than 80% full?? I think this is the first setting that the overhead would give you a warning according to the manual. If there is way to view the DPF status below 80% could you please let us know?? I would like to see that, especially if you can get it to read the DPF below 80% then you could compare reading pre or post a regen. I am planning to get a Commander soon and I'm hoping that it will be able to give me those stats too.

You are right in saying the first indication of the catalyst status comes on its own at 80%. From there, if the regeneration process work as intended, it will indicate every 10% when cleaning up the DPF. It only took place once on my truck and I was scared like hell to be stranded in the middle of nowhere. After 19 minutes, the catalyst status was showing 0% and at 23 minutes, the indication disappears. Unfortunately, there is no feature permitting access of the catalyst status. I call it catalyst status since it is how it is display and it is alternating with refer to you owner's manual display but once the process start, it will show 80%, 70%, 60% down to 0%.
