Problems w/ new Dodge tell them

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you probable know the Chrysler Corp is on the ropes and Damilier(sp) sold 80%of Chrysler to a company called Cerberus Capital Management.
Cerberus is mainly an investment group that buys flailing companies improves that companys bottom line to make it attractive to someone who would be interested in buying it.

This presents us, 6.7 owners, with a golden opportunity. We have to pressure Cererus to correct these 6.7's maladies.

Now I know alot of you report having no problems. But consider this. Why after we spend an enormous amount for something we then have to pluke down a couple more grand just to get a few more MPG. Plus if you make these mods you become a criminial. Your breaking federal law which makes you a criminial. They already have technology that they can aim at your exhaust and tell if it is in compliance. How long do you think it will be before some pin head politician will see the money that can be gained by fining people in violation of tampering with emissions equipment???

Also longevity of this engine. What is one of the biggest enemies of a engine---HEAT. In order to get the emission crap to work you have to increase exhaust temps which heats everything else up not to mention that your putting unfiltered exhaust gases back into your engine.
So the botton line write Cerberus at https://www.chryslerllc.com/en/contact_us/email/
I already have, yesterday, no answer yet. Will keep you updated.

Isn't the fine for up to $10,000, already in place for tampering with emissions?

You can't blame Chrysler for everything though. If it wasn't for the EPA we wouldn't have all the emissions equipment, Chrysler has ne choice but to put it on the trucks. Low MPG you can thank the truck owners for because all you hear (at least me) is "it needs more power", "it needs to be bigger", "it needs to be able to handle a 30,000 pound trailer without going past the GVW or GCRW". How about instead of complaining you tell Chrysler "I would like you to try and get higher MPG in your trucks and also keep them bug free".
You have enough people do that you may get somewhere.

My .5 cents.

I will agree with you on this. The EPA made them in stall the EGR and DPF junk and that is what has caused the most problems with this engine.

I don't know how old you gentelman are but I was a motorhead back in the late 60's. Vietnam, hippies, and the demise of the high performance engine. GM where factory building stock engines with 11:1 compression. Then came the EPA.
What was Detriot answer? Low compression, air pumps, leaned out carburation(sp), retarded timing, single exhaust and catalatic (sp) convertors.
THE RESULTS: no power, and hugh consumption of gasoline.

Almost 40 years later what do we have gas Engines producing massive power and that get 20 MPG on the highway. Actually my Vette gets 24MPG.

What is the difference??? REFINEMENT

The diesel is now at the BEGINNING of a new age, just like the early 70's gas engine. Once again the manufacturers have fell asleep in development and decided to throw trash out to the public. Those of us that need and want a P/U with a diesel only have 3 places to go DODGE, GM, FORD. And they wonder why they are losing market share????

another part of that was the oil embargo. cars had to be able to run on lower octane fuels.
