No Blu-Tec on my 2007?

I traded my 06 on an 07 that listed the 6.7 at $5555 and had no $995 for the Blu-Tec. Do I have the same sytem(I hope not) as those that have the $995 Blu-Tec listed on the sticker?

Sorry, all 6.7L engines have the Blu-Tec emissions, i.e. Diesel Particulate Filter.

Unless you have a chassis cab. Not sure what they have, but still a DPF, I think.

If I remember correctly, On my window sticker it didn't actually say " Blu - tec ". It called it something else but I did get charged the 995 bucks for it.

It is a chassis cab. I wouldn't know for sure. I do know I was not charged for it.

The cab chassis model does not have the EGR bypass system under the hood. It just lets a small amount through all the time. Also the cat/DPF is mated together and looks like one BIG DPF.

So it is always returning some exhaust back into the intake? I would think under most conditions, that would be a bad thing. It does have a BIG pipe that runs between the intake and exhaust manifolds. I couldn't figure if I had one HUGE cat or what, I do know it has a sensor after it. It would be great if I didn't have a DPF- oh well.

The EGR on a diesel kind of runs backwards than that of a gasoline engine. It runs EGR at idle and low RPM's. When you truck is idling, and then you hear it all of a sudden change noises, thats EGR flow. It does not flow at WOT or high load conditions. It controls the amount of NOx that the engine produces by lowering combustion temperatures.

The cab chassis models fall under different EPA regs. Hence the differ EGR system and cat/dpf all in one. They're allowed to be a bit more dirty

At first I was hoping for a giant Cat. Oh well. I bet it runs just as clean, with 45 less hp it is probably easier to deal with the emissions. After driving 600 miles from FL on a new truck with 900 miles, I'm stuck in Murfreesboro TN with a giant 5th wheel. Truck started over heating. Waited 3 hours Wednesday afternoon and they said a foriegn object was caught in the thermostat??? 10 miles down the road, hot again. Now I'm stuck here a second time until beaman dodge gets it fixed

Blue-Tec

From searching other websites including Cummins, I found that Blu-Tec was developed by Mercedes and is not the same unit that Cummins uses on their 6.7 for commercial uses including Motor Homes. Leave it to DC to try to save a buck and not go with the engine makers tested products. Could be that the Ram must meet different standards then the same engine in commercial use.

That's what I told the service guy today after driving 80 miles and overheating again. At least this dealer in Clarksville TN seems to have taken the time to look. the say the EGR cooler was leaking coolant and had run about half of my coolant through the engine. So, after 2 nights, I may be on my way again tomorrow. I should have stayed with the good ol 5.9- no EGR cooler to leak on that simple engine.
