Intresting read, "Unbiased ???" truck comparrisons
Whos to know if this 6.4l had 4.30's or 4.88's other than the owner? Obviously the guy that says he beat it will say "it had 4.30's so it wasnt detuned" but we know he didnt ask the guy what gears he had.
And either way, the F450 weighs quite a bit more than his truck. its a 450. Maybe it should be a dodge 4500 against an F450 to get a fair comparison here.

take the test with a grain of salt. There is NEVER going to be a comparison test that everyone will look at and say "wow...good test!". Not going to happen. Whoever the 2nd and 3rd place mfg's are are going to be the people crying foul and making excuses. If the dodge or ford won, I would be complaining about the test being unfair too.

If you have a certain truck and you love it, and in your eyes it tows like a dream and better than any other truck on the road, then thats all that matters...dont let other people's oppinions (or magazine's tests) get to your head and bother you. ESPECIALLY magazine's tests. Ever read Motor Trend/Car and Driver/whatever? Those guys are journalists/writers who happen to be interested in cars. They are not die hard 100% knowledgeable car enthusiasts who happen to be writers too. The last time motor trend tested HD trucks they couldnt stop praising the ford 6.0. They loved everything about it, and the dodge and GM were far behind in every aspect. Get this, they even said the 6.0 was the quietest of the three according to their decible meter.
To be honest, yeah, I read that test (not the motor trend one, the pickup truck.com one). And after reading it I didnt go running around with my chevy hat on and high fiving every person I saw. I said "oh ok thats cool...." and didnt think anything else of it. If you will remember back in 2003, the ford won the test. I said the same thing. The ford was the newest design truck at the time so it was completely logical and for that reason I didnt think twice about the test. The GM and dodge trucks were older, so whats the big deal who wins?
just my oppinion.

You obviously didn't read everything I wrote. Here is a quote for ya
" The results would be different. Good or bad for Dodge I don't know"
The guy that I asked this said I had a good point and he had not thought
of it that way. I got his mind churning and that was what the question was all about so they can keep improving there testing procedures. Personally, I don't care who won.

Ya i understand. Seems on the ford diesel forums most people are opting for the 4.88's. They decide if they want an F450 with 4.30's they are just better off getting a 350 with 4.10's sinc ethe difference isnt too much
One thing I have always noticed about the Cummins is it's a gutless fuel hog till it gets broke in. This has been the case with all 3 cummins I have owned. I have had a new 7.3 and 6.0 and to me they had excellent power with no breakin. I would like to see the same test after each truck has 10,000 miles on it, the results could be a little surprising to some.
I have never owned a Duramax but I am not surprised it won. Its lighter and has more HP and TQ then a stock Cummins or Powerstroke. But if you look at my signature I am not one to keep a truck stock

Not really sure your reasoning behind this

Very well said Ben, I agree with you 100%. I have owned Dodge's for the past 12 years. I love the look and the Cummins and my buddy owned a Dodge store which made it a no brainer to own a Dodge. He recently sold the Dodge franchise and went Chevy and of course offered me an amazing deal on the 07 2500 D-Max. I drove the truck for a day and can tell you that the Allison tranny will put even my new Aisin to shame, it automatically rev matches gears on downshift and so on. Still I went and bought a Dodge, I guess it's the truck I love and want to see parked in my driveway.
Personally, I don't care about these comparisons! Real world! I know at the end of the day my cummins will be ready to do it's job over and over again!
I used my 02 to deliver trailers out of L.A. to Utah and on the flats, ya I got passed by new P-Strokes & D-maxs, but on those long grades on I-15, 100+ deg. weather, I walked right passed them with my cruise still set @ 65mph! There is a video floating around here were a newer D-max got embarrassed by an older cummins. Just the facts!

Uh the F450 is detuned from the standard 6.4l found in my truck. its still 325hp like the 6.0psd. Good job to you. you beat a detuned truck that weighs 2000lbs more than yours thats made to haul 30,000lbs
And the F450 weighs somewhere around 9500lbs. My truck weighs about 8200lbs, and its an F250 Crew Cab SWB
I raced my truck against a friends truck, exact same as mine but his had 14,000 on it and his truck had no problem waxing me. I can feel it open up every day a little more. i saw a 6.4l at bandimere running 16.8's which is 5000ft above sea level.
PUTC tests are terrible and prove nothing. Diesel power ( i think it was ) said a stock Dmax LMM did a 15.4 yet PUTC is showing 16.9
Terrible tests.
