intake baffling?

saw on the "other" site where a guy removed the baffling that's in the intake tube on his 6.7L it looks to have almost like another filter in it, would there be any ill affects by not having the extra filtering??? I may pull mine & run it a bit & see how it sounds w/it out, still considering the airaid intake, but would rather run a system with a dry filter as opposed to the oiled filters, anyway just wondered if anyone else had removed the baffle?? thanks, Dusty

i have an intake that was gutted by 973604x4 and he said it was kind of a pain....just because you have to break or cut the ends off ,pull the piece out then reattach the end pieces

I had a Airraid filter on my 05.
After about 8000 miles I pulled the filter to clean it and the prefilter was sucked into the filter itself.
I believe there is a pic of the filter in my gallery.
I changed to Amsoil dry filter and like it better than the Airraid.
As for the baffle, I used a hacksaw to cut them out of the tube between the filter and turbo.
Seemed to help with air flow.

is it for the 6.7l ??? cuz the way this guy talked this thing just slid out, & I figured it'd have to come out pretty easy for cleaning??? I'll go check mine out & post my findings? Dusty

no cutting required on the 6.7L baffles, just pulled mine out, I'll post back L8er on how she sounds now, but it was just as simple as pulling the tube off & then pulling the baffling out, it's in there pretty snug, but a little twisting & pulling & it slid right out. Dusty

well after a day of driving w/the baffle removed I think it's gonna stay out! I can almost hear the turbo spool now!! & I swear the throttle response might be just a bit better, could just be me, but it seems to spool a little earlier than before??? I swear I wish someone would figure out how to pull the silencer ring on these things! if the exhaust has to stay quiet I at least wanna hear the turbo sing!!! let me know if any of you guys pull the baffle, see if the response changes any??? I kinda wanna see if it's just my wishful thinking??? Dusty

Removed my baffle yesterday and I'm impressed. Better throttle response and a little turbo noise.
