If the truck you have is showing 'Cat Stat 100%' the engine has de-rated itself and your not feeling the true power of that 6.7 engine. In fact why are you driving it this way??

If it's at 'Cat Stat 100%' it is not doing any regeneration. So why are you saying it's "going in and out of regen"?? It will go into regen and stay there until the Cat Stat drops below 10% and goes away. Been there done that.

I am driving it this way because I have no other choice. The dealer has my truck and this was the only one available to give me. If this is de-rated power then the 6.7 is going to be a very respectable motor. It accelerates pretty well from a stop but doesn't pull in the upper rpm's like my 5.9, maybe because of being de-rated?

I assume it is going in and out of regen because the idle speed, sound of the motor changes (louder) for a period of time then stops. I assumed this would be a regen cycle? Not owning a 6.7 I have not experienced regen before.

So i have a question about regens. My truck has never showed any cat stat and has never said 60% 70% or anything so will a truck only regen when it reaches a certain percent, and tell me that it is at a certain percent. OR does it not show me cat stat % b/c it has been regenning properly and stayed pretty empty?

When my truck hit 'Cat Stat 100%' the engine de-rated and the power loss was huge. I was driving over the Cascades and you could notice it right away. It had half the accelertion it normally has. I pulled over on the side of the highway and shut if off to call the service mgr., that's how worried I was about how it was running.

If everything is working properly you will not see anything on the overhead console about regeneration. In fact since my truck got the computer flashed a few thousand miles ago I have not been able to tell when it's in regen mode. It just runs awesome all the time now.

The only time I had the overhead tell me the Cat Stat thing was before the computer flash. The old program was not allowing for enough regeneration cycles, that's why I had problems.

So what is the point of having trucks that can only run on ULSD running around where LSD is still available? Not everyone is as smart as a CTD owner, those Ford and GM guys might stop and load up with a big ol' tank of LSD and (further) mess up their engine!!

Turned the 6.7 back in to the dealer and picked my truck up. As nice as that 6.7 was, I really missed my truck. It was very quiet but I kind of missed hearing a little diesel noise. That truck had to be de-rated because of the catalyst, mine definately has more power. The main thing I miss and liked about the 6.7 is the exhaust brake. Really got used to having it on. This will sound strange too, I like the 48RE trans better than the new 6speed auto. That thing never knew what gear it wanted to be in. It would buck and jump all the time trying to pick a gear. Mine is smooth and seemless. Again, maybe had something to do with all of the codes? All in all it is a nice truck but I don't like it better than the trusty 5.9

most of the regen problem are caused by the wrong fuel....many people doesn"t check what they put on their tank...

on our 6.7, we didn"t have any regen problem so far.....(cross my finger)

hey... my friend is a ford tech... Ford and all their genius engineers designed that truck and sent it down to rousch racing to find a way to do repairs o the back of the motor. Rousch preceded to laugh and told ford that any repairs under the cowl back......... u need to pull the body... Hope those maxxforce navistars hold up well...

Ok funny story here
I had to bring in my 06 3500 because the throwout bearing went out. I am also buisness link so I asked them if I could test drive one of thier new on the lot cab and chassis while mine was being fixed.
they said sure.
the truck is a 3500 6.7 L with the AISIN tranny, quad cab and a 8 foot service bed.
Fleet manager tells me the AISIN is bulletproof. actually has a 180K warranty. We are talking since I am in the market for a 5500 cab and chassis. 2nd day I have the truck I am loving the power, exhaust brake ect...
all of a sudden i hear a loud "CLUNK" then a whining noise and my transmission light turns on. truck shifts terrible and I barely get it off the road to my folks house where they let me borrow thier 2nd car.
I am bringing back the loaner(which btw had 600 miles on it) tommorow. I am seriously curious to see what went wrong in this supposedly bulletproof work transmission.

In northern cali we still have diesel truck stops that sell LSD....I was fortunate to catch it before filling my tank.
