I need some opinions. Does it look right or not?
cab lights installed
I installed my cab lights today and they look awesome! Special thanks to Luvnacumns for his technical thread. I didn't need the measurements you posted, as the template worked just fine, but it sure was nice to having the reference there. I'm uploading pics right now (dialup
so slow) and will post asap tonight.

I read where many people either used a hole saw (which is really made for cutting wood) or a big 7/8 spiral flute drill to pop the center hole in there for the light bulb assembly. A hole saw was out of the question
A twist drill would work but it's hard enough to cut even a small 1/4 hole cleanly through thin sheet metal and I couldn't imagine trying it with a 7/8.
My solution was a Green Lee tool. It makes really clean holes in sheet metal. My first 4 photos show the Green Lee 7/8 hole cutter. It's a simple 3 piece tool. You drill a 3/8 hole for the bolt to slip through. Then with the cup over the hole slip the bolt through and tighten up the cutter piece on the bottom side (it takes two people) until it slowly and cleanly cuts through the metal. Hard to explain but maybe the photos can show what it looks like. The 1/4 holes got the job done just fine but they didn't come out as clean looking as the big 7/8 holes did.
The main thing with this job is take your time and get the layout just right and then very carefully center punch your marks. Also it's a good idea to drill small guideholes for your 1/4 and 3/8 bit. I used a #45 drill bit for this purpose.

Notice how clean that 7/8 center hole looks compared to my somehwat jagged 1/4 twists drill holes. I drilled slowly too but they were plenty good for the purpose they serve. It's not going to the moon you know.

The finished job. I used absolutely no silicone. these are the factory OEM lights and they fit down nice and snug just as the factory intended them. Just for fun I put some Hella extreme yellow bulbs in my heads and fogs. I like em. Also the cab light bulbs are 5 diode and the front turns are 25 diode leds. Hard to tell in the photo but in person especially at night the leds look great!

It probably isn't but it doesn't have to be. That hole is only for clearance to allow the harness/bulb to slip through so it can plug into the bottom of the lens. To be honest though a few of my 1/4 holes slipped off a little. I don;t care how good you are it's hard to start a drill bit in a center punch. It's a fact of life some of the time it's going to slip off slightly. Most of them were right on the money but a few of them did slip off no more than a 1/32 maybe a 1/16 at the most. It didn't matter. Any way you stand back and look at the truck all of them look just fine and none of them looks out of place.
lookin' good, thought you were going with the Recon smoked LED's?? or that could be my imagination acting up again???? looks good, can't wait for my door molding to get here, hopefully monday! the cablights definatly give your truck a whole new attitude

I was just playin with ya.
Those lights look great on your truck. I couldn't buy my truck without cab lights, they're just a must have IMHO. Was coming back home from a long trip last night and I was remarking to my wife how romantic the orange glow is from my cab lights..LOL

Are your smoked lenses leaking Dusty? I saw a tech writeup where some guy got some of those and they leaked. He ended up switching to the "old style" smoked lenses or something like that and it went away but he gooped up silicone everywhere and I was kinda dubious. These factory lenses snugged down and fit just right.
no leaks here, these seem like alot better quality than the old smoked lenses I had on the 01' they fit nice & snug with the supplied gaskets, actually I think the gaskets were already attached to the lights, no silicone here & so far no leaks. they're working perfect! the amber lenses do look great on yours though!
